If you love Korean food or have never tried it, head to the newly opened Brewda restaurant on the terrace, just behind Craft Embassy. My wife and food consigliera, helped guide our food choices. And choice they were! 👌 We started with the Tuna mayo bite which came with two delicious seaweed tacos packed with raw tuna and mayo. Great starter to open the palate for the flavour bombs to come.
My wife insisted on the kimchi mul-hwe and I’m so glad she did as this was one of the best raw fish dishes I’ve ever had. The fermented kimchi broth and this amazing granita on top lifted the dish to a whole new level of awesomeness.
Next up, the Ssambap which is a cabbage roll stuffed with delicious bulgogi pulled beef and rice - a very tasty little parcel.
After the selection of small plates, we moved onto the corn and bacon jeon, which is a savoury Korean pancake. It came with a decadent honey butter mozzarella topping so your taste buds were bedazzled with the savory sweet flavours.
Dish of the day and I have to say one of the best fusion dishes I’ve experienced was the Tteokbokki. What on earth is that I hear you say… Well, it’s the best gnocchi ever with spicy gochujang sauce, crumbed bocconchini and Parmesan cheese, just because you gotta have more cheese ! Incredible dish and every bite of the pillowy soft gnocchi melted in your mouth which was a nice contrast to the crumbed cheese bombs! The mind-blowing rich spicy sauce was utterly drinkable! Very grateful they served this dish with spoons so you can get every last drop!
This was such a memorable experience indulging in some unique new dishes and the service, ambiance and the fit out here is top notch! There are several dishes we can’t wait to try next time. I highly recommend visiting Brewda with friends, family and out of town guests. You won’t be disappointed! BONUS - they have $23 bibimbap...
Read moreWe went as a group of 6, with the intention to buy at least two dishes each. We ended up buying a little more than that, most of them being "small anju", about entree size, and we were ready to go into a food coma by the end. Every single thing we bought was delicious, with special mention going to the squid which was the perfect texture; something that is harder to get than you'd expect, and the tteokbokki (gnocchi with crumbed cheese balls in a spicy broth) which was like tasty little clouds. The staff was amazing and so sweet, and gave us great recommendations. My friends told me to tell you about these dishes: The soy chicken was absolutely massive (it was to share) and unbelievably moist. The soy gamja (soy fried potatoes) was so good, we could've eaten a kilo of the stuff. Well seasoned and soft and crispy! We also bought both avaliable desserts: a wildberry mousse with compote, and a "citrus pebble" (lemon, yuza confit, almond praline, sable). One of my friends went insane for the sable, but for me the citrus pebble was an absolute highlight. Sour and soft and scarily moreish. The wildberry mousse was also very soft and tasty and a couple friends thought that was the best, but I'm a sour person. We will definitely return!
Sorry we forgot to take photos, we are everything too fast unfortunately. The photos I did take were of the agu jjim (poached monkfish in a spicy broth) when I'd already eaten more than half, and the...
Read moreAs a Korean Kiwi I can say that Brewda has nailed Korean Fusion. I've had bad fusion in the past but this place is so good and has done it so well. Definitely recommend for both Koreans and Kiwis. The Galbi Jjim was good and more safe options for people who aren't familiar with Korean food or don't like strong flavours. The Squid Ragu was my favourite. Very Korean flavour but pasta! The place was pretty easy to find, decorated very nicely (lovely plants and clean) and the staff was so friendly! We had mocktail drinks that was yummy. Actualky tasted like proper mocktails not like overpriced juice. The food come out looking pretty like fine dining and the portions are filling. We got 2 medium size mains for 2 of us and we couldn't finish it. It came to $81 all together which seems pretty afforable to me. Brewda is located right next to the BNZ Centre across from Timezone so we parked at the crossing and walked. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Small note, we tried to book online and it said no tables available which was weird as it was 6pm and so we called up. Lucky we did as they weren't busy and had tables. So I do recommend calling to check if you can't...
