No way it's a 4-star hotel. It's more like 3. First the pros: Location - location is amazing. You will be only a few mins away from pretty much all the tourists attractions (from the Cathedral to the Regent street to Victoria square). Hagley Park is a but of a walk but you can take the tram tour. OGB bar and restaurant - the bar is not owned by the hotel but it's a good place to hang out. It's always popping from morning to evening. It closes at 1 am. Room size - rooms are big. I had a suite with separate living area. Laundry - there was laundry in the room so that helped a lot. I have been touring for over a week.
Now on to some of the improvements: Service - this is where I take at least 2 stars away. Service is horrendous. There is no one to help you with the luggage. I did not even see a valet. Front desk over the weekend had only one chap. No security. The manager was absent - heck she wasn't even at the hotel! Room # 18 - it's right on top of the bar and you can hear the music playing till 1 am. They offered me another room so that helped. Air conditioning - none whatsoever. They have a heater but it was too hot in Dec. Fan helped. Dated - the hotel needs some upkeep. Carpets show aging.
Overall if you get a good deal, it may not be bad for the location. Don't expect...
Read moreI rarely write reviews but feel compelled to do so now. This place is an absolute dump. Interesting old building with potential and nice reception staff but needs massive upgrading to be serviceable as a reasonable hotel. We are staying in a two bedroom suite which is spacious but oddly laid out. Small sleeping area upstairs that feels like a cave of some kind. No temperature control so it gets hot up there. Outdated bathrooms that are functional but gross. Any of this stuff is manageable even if not ideal. But here is why I am writing this review: there is a nightclub or loud bar downstairs that you can’t ignore. I’ve been trying to sleep for three hours now and all I hear is bass music and drunk people screaming every minute or so in the street below our windows. You can’t escape it. If I wanted to stay in a youth hostel, I would have. I came here with my family to get some rest before a long flight. Looks like I’m screwed in that regard. Unless you want to feel like you’re inside a nightclub while in your pajamas in your room, look elsewhere. I should have booked the Novotel a block over. Sorry Heritage but since I can’t sleep with all the noise, I might as well write this review so that no one else has the same...
Read moreI booked our room at The Heritage for the night of our wedding. I was hoping to talk to someone from the reservation team about checking in late and having some other things added to our room so it was ready when we checked in. I had barely said "are we able to check in late..." when the reservation agent cut me off and just said "yep just book online". So I did. I wasn't sure how to add the things I wanted to our room to be ready when we checked in so I just left them out. We came to check in from the reception, this young kid working security for the OGB Bar looks at me and scoffs and says "are you wearing a wedding dress?!". The girl who checked us in was equally as rude. She said "if you were getting married you should of told us". I was taken aback and when I explained that I had tried to organize it with a reservation agent and couldnt, but had added that note to my online booking she just kept arguing with me that I hadn't done it, so we just checked in and went to get changed. It really set a tone for our night there. After we checked out we got a feedback survey which i completed and never heard anything back. The room was nice enough, but I wouldn't stay here if you're coming for...
