We came to Original Sin for our 9 year anniversary, the last one before we get married in Feb so it was a special night. The atmosphere was really nice and the menu looked good. It was a little bit awkward when we first arrived, we were greeted but then the staff member walked away and chatted to another staff member, then the bartender greeted us and we didn't really know where we were supposed to go to. A third person came along and confirmed our booking and seated us. We were really excited to try the menu as all of the reviews we saw were really great. We ordered the wagyu, the lamb and the duck fat potatoes + some drinks. We were very disappointed in the quality of the meats for both of our meals. The beef definitely wasn't a wagyu marble grade 7. The beef was sinewy and had hard gristly bits, and the meat appeared to be a marble grade 2 or 3 at best, it also didn't taste like real wagyu and it seems like restaurants may just be naming their beef dishes "wagyu" as its the popular buzzword at the moment? It tasted just like any other old non-fancy beef tataki you can get at other restaurants for less than half of the $62 Original Sin is charging. Also the lamb was incredibly tough and chewy. However, the chefs are clearly good as the meat was technically cooked perfectly it just seems the quality of the meat was very poor, so we felt a bit ripped off but at least we didn't have to pay the full price. If we didn't have the voucher from First Table we probably would have sent the food back to the kitchen and not paid as we felt we didn't get what was being advertised. All of the sides however were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. Unfortunately no staff came to meal check, no wait staff came back to see if we were okay or wanted any more drinks or desserts if there even were any and when we went to pay they didn't ask us how the meal was so we didn't feel like we had a chance to give any feedback. We aren't sure if we would come back to this...
Read moreWent to Sins last night with many of my friends, I was sober. At one point of the night, me and my friends wanted to leave the dance floor because it was it too hot. There were five of us holding hands to leaving the dance floor so that we didn't get separated (basic safety for young women). One of the bouncers, singled me out and told me I needed to leave. I questioned him, and his explanation was "you are just too wasted", I explained that I was sober but he insisted on me leaving. This upset me, as I was under the understanding that as a Bouncer, your job was to have the safety of the people in the club at your best interest. Sending an 18 year old woman out of the club by herself with a UNIFORMED reason as to why is not having the the safety of the people at your best interest. Especially as there were so many people who were visibly "wasted" in the club. After 40 minutes, I found more of my friends who were going into Sins, to celebrate our mates birthday, I stood in line (hesitantly) with them and the same bouncer (who kicked me out) was now on the door, he let my friend group in but not me, he asked me where I had been, I explained I had been into Rockpool before lining up. But the same process happened; he said I wasn't allowed in, I questioned why, he said I was too drunk, I explained I was the sober driver, and he didn't take any of it. He singled me out both times, he was arrogant, rude, couldn't make eye contact, mumbled with his reasonings and was abusing his authority role. Ruined my night, I came to sins as it is usually a good club and my friends were celebrating inside. Any advice of how I should act? If not...
Read moreMy wife and daughter decided to take me to Original Sin for lunch on father’s. We arrived and it was not busy at all which surprised me.
We sat inside and our order of drinks and food was taken very quickly. Raspberry coke and ginger ale + 2 pizzas. That was it.
As we waiting for our food, I noticed a table that had just finished their meal. They paid but to my disgust, they left so much food on the table. It was honestly ridiculous to waste it all.
I therefore ask the waitress (as I oft e do in these situations) if it was possible for her to pack all that food in takeaway bags so that I could give it to the homeless persons in the street parallel to the restaurant. She said she will check. She came back and told me that it was not allowed to do that. She even admitted that it was very kind and thoughtful of me and that they (Original Sin) throw away a lot of food. I responded that it was disappointing but ok. I confirmed that it was not for us but nope. No movement.
The last straw was that It the took close to 1h45 minutes for our food to arrived. I had to go and ask multiple times for our two pizzas. Was told 5 minutes away many times. A couple of table that had arrived well after us were already eating.
The table next to us also had to complain about how long it took for their very simple food to arrived. When it finally did, the guy asked to return the cheese board he had ordered as he didn’t agree paying that much for microscopic pieces of cheese and the bread was burned.
Extremely disappointing experience and I can honestly assure you that they were not...
