The rooms were fine, beds comfortable, extra linens, shower, iron, ironing board, city location and free WIFI all very good for a work trip. However, the window shade was munted and hard to ensure privacy seeing as there are 4 windows immediately across from mine. One way shades would be way better so that I could have both privacy and light. The desk workspace was dark even with every light on in the room. There was a desk lamp sitting there unplugged that didn't work and when I asked the front desk they said they would send someone to sort it out and they never showed up. The ethernet cable (which I was advised isn't used anymore) just takes up space on the wee desk, so if you're not going to use them anymore just recycle them! In the hall, I was asked if I needed my room serviced and I said I didn't, it would be fine. I came back to more towels (that I didn't need there were already plenty extra unused towels in the room), my used coffee cups and spoon having been handled and shifted (but not cleaned or replaced), and every item in the room moved back from where I had put it (so I just had to move everything back again when I got back to my room. Why bother asking if you're just going to do what you want anyway? $19.00 for the continental breakfast option (pretty much cereal) was absolutely not justifiable. The kitchen was closed the two nights I was there except for breakfast and there is no parking for guests. I would suggest this hotel works a bit harder on keeping to their word from reception to the...
Read moreOn the 24 July I tried to book on line but after finding the room I wanted ( your system said there were 7 rooms left ) every time I locked onto the booking I wanted your system changed to something else. As I was catching the ferry next morning I did not have the time to waste so I rang the hotel. After telling the very nice woman about the problem I was having she too said that something was not right. Also while there I did speak to her at the counter and she said that she did ask why there was a problem. As I live in Wellington and driving down did not know how long the trip would take I booked for the 26 & 27 at a dearer price that on your website. On the 25th from door to door it took us 13 hours and arrived that night around 7pm.Then because of your system I could not move my booking forward 1 night so finished up getting a room at a higher rate again. When I made the phone booking I was told that I had free breakfasts with the booking and then found out that I got charged for them. Over the last 10 years or so when working in CHCH I always try to book in there ,even stayed there many times when you were in...
Read moreI stayed for two nights here with my grandma after booking with a 30% discount due to a deal that was running. The staff were excellent, helping us check in at 3am after the late arrival of our flight, informing us about a current special running where we could have the buffet breakfast for $1 extra, and helping us with any questions we had.
We had the breakfast which was excellent value with both cooked and continental options, and we also ate dinner in the restaurant that night which was beautifully presented though could have been a bit more flavoursome.
We stayed in a double bed twin room which gave us both a lot of space to sleep. There was space in the room for our bags but the rooms are a bit compact. The bathroom was clean and well maintained and there were tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and board, wardrobe space, hangers and extra pillows and blankets available.
The location was right in the centre of town which made it easy to access the malls, tram, church and bus interchange. The only downsides was that the hallways and elevators were undergoing renovations and looked...
