Katsubi Riccarton — Restaurant in Christchurch

Mid-Nov 2019 - This restaurant is located inside the Riccarton mall, near the Farmers department store.

Anyway, the interior layout is well set up with multiple standard timber dining tables and chairs. The place is decorated with basic timber furnishings.

The menu is very straightforward with English words with photos (you can always ask for help from the staff if you can't decide what to eat like me 🤔). It is not overwhelming (which is a good thing) with choices but rather nicely balanced.

I ordered a teriyaki chicken bento, which came with side dishes alike such as tempura prawn & vegetable, kimchi, seaweed, green salad and pan fried beef slices. It is not the best teriyaki chicken that I had but certainly not the worst. It is good for a quick bite and for a group of friends.

There is plenty of onsite parking 🅿.

We are a regular customer always have lunch here but recently we have came across twice that the food was not upto the standard.Thats the reason I decided to put the review as management should know.we always order bento box as we perfer to eat fresh and hot. Today we arrive her again to eat bento Placed an order but after that was today that kitchen is busy so if we would like to come back after 20 mins. We were ok with it as we understand that it's a boxing day and quite busy too. After 20 mins we arrived and after placing the order we where told to pickup the food from the counter straight away as someone who ordered has not turned up. Food was completely cold and in a takeaway box. $ 26.99 was totally a waste. We asked them to replace it.as we didnt want to eat the cold food after few second the same food was given back to us. Will never come...

I’m all for supporting local businesses and have never given a bad review before - however the customer service at Katsubi Riccarton is appalling. Paid $18.99 for a bowl at the counter and as I was picking up the bowl it slipped and spilt all the food. I apologised for the mess made, and the lady who seemed like the owner, looked at it and told me they can’t do anything about it because it wasn’t their fault. The part that felt wrong and made the experience terrible was when she told me I can pick it up and expected me to eat it. When I said I would not be eating it, she simply told me the choice is mine. With her attitude, I’m just one customer and this review probably won’t mean anything, but I will never go back there again and I’ll be letting others know about the poor...
