Kauri Motel on Riccarton — Hotel in Christchurch

Stayed here for 26 nights during my business trip to Christchurch, in the executive spa unit on the ground floor. On reading the online reviews of this motel, I was a bit skeptical about how good it may be, but my fears were allayed during check-in, when I got to know that there was a change in management, just a week before I was there.

The motel had everything that I could have asked for. The best aspect about it was its location and close proximity, just opposite, to Westfield Riccarton mall. There are several restaurants at a walk-able distance on Riccarton Road.

Being a business traveler, internet connectivity was important to me and the WiFi at the motel was very good. There was not one instance of a WiFi disconnection during my stay.

The room had a small kitchenette with utensils and a TV with Sky subscription. The bed and pillows were comfortable and room service throughout my stay was immaculate. There was an air-con/heater in the room. The motel had a laundry room which was mostly kept locked for security reasons, but we could notify the owners and use the laundry machines.

On few occasions, I could hear the sound of vehicles zooming past, but it wasn't much of a bother to me, considering all the advantages the motel's location provided.

I cannot thank the motel owners, Bryan and Nicki, enough for their spectacular hospitality throughout my stay. They asked me for regular feedback on areas of improvement and acted on my feedback to ensure that I had a wonderful stay at Kauri motel. In a sense, they were representative of the well-known Kiwi hospitality. I would love to stay here again sometime in the future and would recommend this motel without hesitation to anyone looking for a homely stay in...

Fantastic service. Nicky was awesome. Room was smallest I've had, showing its age, and quality is "middle". Bed was two singles put together so very uncomfortable and unable to spread out. Loo is literally 2 inches from bath. Bed is literally six inches from opening door, room so small the only place to put a bag is a foldable luggage stand because there's no room for a built in, there is a small desk, small kitchenette.
