This review is based off of my experience personally & is based off ONE of the dishes specifically.
The food took an awhile to come, though was hot, which is good. When I took a bite of the food, the katsu was soggy and tasteless whilst the eggs were rather sweet and tasteless aswell. The noodles weren’t udon like it states on the menu, more like a Chinese flat noodle. I expected soup but there was only a little puddle of liquid at the bottom, though, it is probably my fault for not reading the menu correctly. If I’m being honest, the atmosphere feels like an outlet store & the menu looks not very professional. They don’t have any gluten free options and have minimal vegan/vegetarian options. Overall the food I ordered was rather pricy, & bland. I ordered the egg Katsu udon.
Again, this review was just based off of my taste palette and experience there the staff weren’t rude at all, & the food taking a long time to come was probably just because they were busy due to the light festival going on...
Read moreI ordered tempura udon and agedashi tofu. The service was prompt and the meal quickly cooked. Unfortunately this is where the good stops. The noodles were not. proper udon and they were sweet like they had been made with sugar. The tempura wasn't battered lightly and flash fried. The vegetable tempura wasn't even individual pieces of vegetable. Instead it was this monstrosity of grated anonymous vegetables stuck together with thick floury batter and fried in old oil. The prawn tempura had no noticeable odour or taste although this too was cooked in old oil and the batter was so thick it hadn't cooked fully in some spots. The agedashi was fried much the same. The sauce was the same for both dishes with the udon not coming in a broth but just a sickly sweet. imitation of a tempura sauce. It...
Read moreWent to get a yummy meal as I do frequently. Brought my 11 year son with me but he wasn't keen. So I got him burger fuel instead. While waiting for burger fuel I went to Renkon to order my food. I asked the server if my son could join me outside with his burger fuel meal so we could sit together. The server stated no outside food policy which I understand under normal circumstances. However there was literally nobody in the restaurant. Every single table was available and I was ordering a meal there. I feel common sense should have been used in this instance and maybe let the rule slide? Not one customer entered the restaurant while I sat outside next door at Burger Fuel watching the employee vigorously clean the windows. Yay for...
