Me and my Partner had arrived here after visiting Milford Sounds,
Arriving at 5:45pm Waiter got us to a table straight away, ordered fairly quickly unfortunately there was miscommunication and we were provided Wedges with Bacon when we had ordered Wedges with Sour Cream & Sweet Chilli. My Husband had notified them there was no apology from the waitress and she had just taken the bowl and left giving them to her staff members at the back.
Once the Waitress was done she had went to go and relay it to the kitchen there was a main Chef wearing a Speights cap bearded man who had created a huge scene. Initially talking really loud as the whole diner could him saying âWhy are they ordering another Batch of Wedges,âas he followed up with âWhatâs wrong with the people on table 1?â âMr. I order bacon but canât eat bacon because Iâm Muslimâ âNow weâre going to hold onto their food and they can wait even longer on their mainsâ
As he rudely just glared over at us constantly making me feel uncomfortable continuing the rude snarky comments, and being a smart arse. We honestly felt like he was discriminative and an Islamophobic and just straight up disrespectful.
For a constant 5 minutes there was a huge fuss over this issue, we do understand the inconvenience but nobody ever should receive this sort of treatment,
We had to wait 30minutes for our mains to come out after hearing a Microwave beep finish up and our food come seconds after it was pretty clear our food was ready way before but because of the Wedge issue we received our food microwaved there was Salad on the plate that was the same heat as the Steak we had ordered which just proved the point of our whole plate being microwaved.
The Chef through out the whole time continued to glare over at us and smirk. This Chef was At least mid 30s and acting extremely immature.
After everything the food was poor and his reaction turned us off everything we barely ate, my Husband made a complaint to a bartender who was on shift at the time, he had seemed extremely disengaged and barely receiving an apology.
Personally think this restaurant is Islamophobic and/or Racist as we are of colour and our treatment was so poor. We paid $100 NZD received extreme rudeness horrible microwaved...

Lamb roast was to die for whoop whoop. BUT the lamb shanks well actually the lamb shank its self was so delicious and melt in your mouth, that's where it stopped it the potatoes where very crumbly and dry peas OK and gravy good but very little considering menu says lashing gravy. So I asked for more gravy and out it came but it was awful in fact once I poured it on potaotes it so bad I couldn't eat potato and peas at all. It was definitely not same as on the meal. Upon going to the to pay the bill and discussing with the waitress ringing up our bill she got very defensive and told me she had sold 75 lamb shank meals that day and I was only one to complain hmmm, when I said the gravy was like bistro out of the box she procedded to tell me the chef made the stock.. hmmm the place is a quick turnover for food (I don't care if its a cook or chef) but very disappointing considering we live in NZ and know what mashed spuds, peas and a good gravy (try Maggi dark meat) are. As you can tell extremely disappointed and the waitress realty needs to learn how to deal with people when they question meal issues, it wasn't about getting 10 percent off it was about being acknowledged, respected and actually listened to. OH by the way handling and kissing someone's puppy by the staff and then serving people food and drinks with out washing your hands is not...

After waiting for 30 minutes I had to get up and ask for menus for our table, despite being seated and given water. We didn't seat ourselves, they just forgot to give us menus despite giving menus to other tables around us.
About 5 minutes later we asked if we could order and were told we couldn't put an order in because the kitchen is busy. We were asked if we wanted drinks at this point (around 35 minutes in).
15 minutes later (50 minutes after arrival), the table next to us, who were seated about 25 minutes after us, had their order taken. Our order was taken shortly after, around 55 minutes after arrival.
Positive points to the kitchen for how ridiculously efficient they were pumping out food under pressure.
Please train your people how to talk to their customers. Attempting to make eye contact with anyone is greeted with aversion.
When we were sat down, if we were told a rough estimate of an hour til we had food, we would have gone elsewhere. We asked for an estimate, and they could not give one. The kitchen would know this: Why is this hard to provide?
They also ran out of two of the Sunday roast variations and rather than tell the tables with menus that they are likely to run out or will run out so they can have a backup option planned... they told us only when we...
