Closes between lunch and dinner which is not posted on Google Hours and I showed up right as lunch was ending. Was happy to come back when they reopened, but was put off by the fact that the worker followed me to the bathroom ahead of ordering questioning if I "was just using the toilet" when I came back. Then told no sandwiches for dinner which is what I came back for. Normally would be fine, but the fact I couldn't have lunch when I came at 4pm, being followed to the bathroom when I came back later (mostly this, just really presumptuous and rude), and overly expensive prices for the veggie option ($9 more for a "burger" instead of "sandwich" with the same ingredients plus beans don't cost the same as beef) decided to move on next door to Jailhouse where the...

Came for dinner due to seeing excellent reviews regarding the salads and viewing the menu online. We were disappointed to discover the salads are only available at lunch time which is not made explicit online. This left us with quite a limited and expensive evening menu. Food was of a reasonable standard, well cooked meat. Portions were a little small for the money, however all places in Kaikoura seem very expensive. Service was friendly however it took a good 10 mins to serve our drinks when there was only 2 tables besides us seated. A real shame we didn’t get to try the salads as it seems from other reviews they are a winner. Overall still maybe a good shout if dining in kaikoura as evening food options seemed...

I’ve been thinking about the duck sandwich for almost a month now. That was probably the most incredible sandwich I have ever eaten!

I remember the sandwich so well too: juicy, tender slow roasted duck dripping with juices and a sweet tangy hoisin sauce, crisp lettuce, tart pickled cabbage, roasted garlic aioli adding a luxurious creaminess and umami hits, all served on a perfectly toasted ciabatta that was pillowy and crunchy! Every bite was an excellent bite, a harmony of textures and flavors! Every item on this sandwich belonged there, it would not have been as amazing with something missing or added.
