Thai Kai Takeaway — Restaurant in Kaikōura

My family and I, tourists in Kaikoura thought we would try here for takeaway. When we got home, the extra rice we paid for and part of the beef noodle soup dish was missing. After a tiring day, we did not want to drive all the way back to pick it up. So I called the store and asked if I can have a refund. When speaking to the girl and explaining our situation her reaction was, “you want a refund of just $2.50?.” I tried to explain the beef noodle soup I ordered was missing the noodles, and all I received was a spicy broth. I AM extremely disappointed with this type of service, it’s the principle of understanding and apologising rather than the condescending of receiving a low refund.

Overall some dishes lacked flavour and was just spice. So I would not recommend this place as it has been a disappointing experience in terms of being a waste of money due to staff...

My wife and I both enjoyed our meals. I'd overall say nothing extra special but nothing wrong either. I did ask for my meal to be Thai hot which it most certainly wasn't.

Menu is reasonably extensive. Time from order to taking away was shorter than I'd expected.

Nothing wrong with the service but I was right there when a customer queried whether rice was included, which it was for that dish, and the young lady behind the counter tried to argue it away as an old menu. She seemed to eventually conclude that rice should have been included but the customer was still charged anyway. I guess at that point he decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Husband and I recently brought meals as we love thai food. We were both extremely disappointed. No flavour. I had chicken with peanut sauce, unfortunatley it didnt taste like peanut sauce. Again no flavour. Hubby wanted Nam Tok (thai beef salad) his favourite but was told they didnt have any salad. Keep in mind we were in kaikoura for the car show so big weekend.
