FAMILY WITH KIDS? GET OUT What a terrible choice my family and I made. When out for dinner whilst on a holiday in Picton, after looking around we thought Oxleys might be a good place with an obvious childs menu and what appeared to be a nice place, what a TERRIBLE MISTAKE! Once at reception, We were taken to a table which was big enough for a “family” and with a high chair for KIDS. Once we were seated the waitress delivered a coloring book for KIDS and offered a puzzle which we were told was often popular with KIDS, so far so good. My little 2 to year old was enjoying herself, SEATED on her chair, singing and praising the puzzle delivered by the waitress. NOT screaming, NOT walking around or running around like any toddler would do. While we waited for our food to be delivered having already had drinks arrive , this certainly gave the staff enough time to let us know this isn’t a place for kids or families. Seconds later food got delivered, the waitress “who said she was in charge “ told us that our toddler which was laughing and loving her time with Mum and dad was TOO Loud for everyone around our table, so we better do something to keep her quiet. We made a better choice and descided to leave. To our further dissatisfaction, after all so far, we were also expected to pack our food and pay for what we weren’t able to eat. Other paying customers around us couldn’t believe what they heard and said they were not in the slightest bothered by our little 2 year old toddler. So how about Oxley, get rid of your high chair, your kids menu, toys and make sure customers know they need be 21+. Make sure your staff know how to deal with situations like this what ever the...

The worst staff experience I have ever seen.

We went here for dinner on Christmas Eve 2022, to be met with the absolute rudest waitress.

As a waitress myself I am by no means a “Karen” and know that especially on nights like Christmas Eve waitressing can get stressful, however as a customer you should be able to enjoy your dining experience without feeling like garbage because of a waitress.

When she first approached our table my father jokingly asked where the Christmas music was, after all it was Christmas Eve. He was met with a dark and rude remark by the waitress that if they played any sort of Christmas music they would have to “go through her first”. I then asked her if we could order our meals, as we all knew what we wanted and were eager to get back on the road having to drive another 2 hours, she then snaps back at me that she will take our orders when she is “good and ready”.

I am absolutely appalled that this attitude is considered acceptable at a place that deals first hand with customers. I have never felt so absolutely disgusted in a person, let alone a wait staff.

When we were leaving I tried to talk to another member of the staff about this experience and all they said was “oh, okay thanks have a nice night”. There was no remorse or reassurance that something would be done.

NEVER GO TO...

After a long day out on the Sounds this restaurant in Picton certainly topped off the day ! All tables at the restaurant were reserved but the lady still managed go squeeze us in for some food. The service we received was second go none. We sat and ordered some drinks and then our food. Both served very quickly ! The food was absolutely delicious. Hands down the best beer battered fish and chips I've ever eaten ! A huge portion of fish with a lovely salad and tartar sauce. The others that ate with me also devoured there food (Seafood Chowder and Muscles). All staff that dealt with us at the restaurant were very pleasant and friendly. Although tables were reserved and we had a limited time there was no pressure put on us whatsoever to finish up and leave. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and does not justify the amazing quality of food there. I would highly recommend to anyone passing through or staying in Picton to try to get a table there and grab a meal. It may be better to book a table in advance due to how popular the restaurant seems to be! An extremely friendly atmosphere and I would highly rate this restaurant. It's a bonus that its within a...

We just loved this place perfect for dinner, drinks or just a place to relax. Having an outside and inside seating, weather permits, both gives great harbour views and atmosphere. Staff is friendly, service is super quick. Don't miss cocktails here . Can't find any fault in food, service or overall ambiance. We enjoyed our dinning on both the occasions, cocktails were so delicious we forget to take food pics which was mouth watering with generous portion size. TAG: EAT DRINK AND RELAX. Summer Weekend booking will be recommended. Thanks to the German man (sorry forget your name) who took great care along with the rest of the staff. Thanks for hosting us next time will try to book accommodation with you.
