Seumus' Irish Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Marlborough

Very weird experience, I came to picton to do some kayaking work and my coworkers brought me to this bar to have a drink before I left in the morning and they recommended it beacause of the baileys slushy (looked amazing!) I have only been in nz for two weeks and had a foreign drivers licence which they didn’t accept which was all ok I respect that they have a license to protect so I ordered an orange juice instead, they refused that too and said under 18s aren’t allowed on the premises at all which I thought was weird as there was a six year old at the table next to us. I just found it odd the way staff handled it, even before I got my ID out a guy was waving his arm saying it was a fake and glaring at me, which I thought was a joke because I’m 23, sending over a girl to make sure I was leaving as I was telling my mates that I was being kicked out, I’ve been drinking for five years now and it was by far the strangest way I’ve been treated at a pub. Also note I was completely sober and it was quite early on in the night and not dressed inappropriately or anything just kicked out immediately which I thought was very harsh when I was happy having juice and there was an actual child there. Vibes welcoming and the drinks looked good for the 5 minutes I was in there! Learned my lesson I’ll apply for local ID but in the meantime should bring passport, proof of address and birth certificate if I want to get in as...

I don't normally go to pubs for food but we had such a lovely time at Seumus'!

We ordered the bangers and mash and the hot pot. The bangers were okay but the mash and gravy were amazing and the hot pot... The hot pot was amazing. I will dream of that hot pot. The portions were generous and arrived very quickly. We had also ordered loaded fries and could not finish it all. We tried.

Lots of dairy free, gluten free and vege options if you need those.

Order the Bailey's slushie. That was also divine.

The place had a great friendly vibe and to top it all off, the service was amazing. Our host was so attentive and funny. When we left, he wasn't around and I feel very sad that we didn't get to say goodbye. If you're reading this, it was nice to meet you! Thanks for an awesome night. Enzo and I...

We have visited Seumus' Irish Bar twice now and it's been AMAZING each time!

The first time we went there was in July this year, I had booked a table for dinner and when we walked in we were made to feel at home right away. We had an awesome night, sitting by the fire with amazing food, I had the steak which was done to perfection and ended up going home WAY too late!!

The second time we were there was at the end of October. We didn't book and we hadn't been there since but when we walked in, we got that same welcome and some of the staff who had been there when we where there three months earlier remembered us! Needless to say, we once again had way too many of the delicious pints of Guinness!!

Highly recommended, will be going back there every time we are in Picton!
