Cappadonna Cafe — Restaurant in Napier

We didn't have a good experience for breakfast here today, but it wasn't all bad. It didn't start well, they had no toilet and the one they sent us to a block away was closed, but we found another in a church about a block in another direction.

Two of our three meals were wrong - the banana wasn't removed from the hotcakes (my wife can't stand them), and my omelette had mushroom which I didn't ask for and don't like. The omelette was remade with no issues and was quite good. The eggs on toast were also quite good.

The hotcakes were really not good. They were both chewy and soggy at the same time, an impressive achievement. They tasked like they'd been reheated in a microwave. My wife managed to eat them rather than send them back, but really didn't enjoy them. I bought this to their attention and was given a refund.

Nice iced Mochas (thought I should start with a nice comment!). Decided to order the $10 (large) plate of chips as I thought it would be cheaper than the kids ordering stuff individually. Lady at counter said the serving would be more than enough for all of us (x4). For $10 you would expect a pretty decent serving! Pffttt the serving was pathetic, I never leave reviews, comment or complain but the amount of chips for $10 just blew me away. Think we got 5 chips each!!!! When I checked with the waitress if this was the $10 serve she just commented that they had a new chef and did I want her to take them back....yeah back to get more chips! Way...

Terrible service. FOH were rude, I witnessed one squeezing past my mother (who was in the line ordering) holding four plates then nearly dropping them, letting out a huge wail instead of saying "excuse me" and then turning around and SCOWLING at her like she had done something wrong. As a person that has worked in cafes before, this was not on and quite frankly, a waitress who treats customers like that just need to be fired on the spot! We will not be returning, and to anyone thinking of visiting Cappadonna, I'd recommend heading down the road to Zig Zag instead - wonderful service, and beautiful...
