PIZZA CRUST & BAR — Restaurant in Napier

I visited Napier for a couple of days last week and was looking for a bite to eat at 9.40 pm on the Saturday night of the Deco Festival. Everywhere was crazily busy, but saw some people sitting outside this small pizzeria away from the crowds. Thought it would be too late to sit in as they were clearing up, but the manageress said that, as it was just me they would make me a Neapolitan with added anchovies. To be honest I thought I would be leaving half the pizza crust uneaten, which is my usual experience with pizza.

How wrong I was - the pizza was smaller than expected, but the perfect size for me. The real bonus was the pastry base which was thicker than usual, but light and perfectly cooked, and the very generous cover of real tomatoes and cheese. I ate every morsel and could have eaten more as it was absolutely delicious.

The young waitress was attentive and friendly, and the restaurant at one stage filled with the happy sounds of the owner's family and children excitedly talking about the Art Deco Festival.

Not a criticism, but a couple of shreds of fresh basil garnish would have made this a cordon bleu pizza!

Sadly I am back home in country NSW and doomed to the usual large thin base pizza sparsely covered with "the makings".

Good luck to the lovely Indian family running the Pizza Crust & Bar - I hope you're still there when I return to Napier.

Firstly starting off, walking into the restaurant the atmosphere and decor was tacky and well below par and really set the standard for a poor dinner service in the coming hour or so. The paintings were clearly off google images and really brought the overall experience and mood of the space down a few notches. The menu was absolutely massive and completely overwhelming with pages and pages of pizza all based off different cuisines, leading to too many choice and leaving me and my table feeling extremely overstimulated and overwhelmed, the menus also had whole sections and random dishes, sides and pizza crossed out with cheap biro pen showing a clear lack of care for the presentation of the restaurant as a whole, the food was poor ingredients, bland and lacked real true flavour the service was poor which warranted this...

Honestly went here at 3pm on a Saturday and it was empty,there was one worker that I believe was by himself however he had the best Customer service ever,he seated us then gave us menus etc and wow there is such a wide range of flavour options, I ordered a tandoori chicken (vegan cheese) and a meat lovers extra large pizza,it took a little while however when we got our pizzas they smelt and looked so good,they where both loaded with toppings,and honestly they are the best pizzas I've ever had and they deserve the 5 stars that they have,a family pizza which goes upto $30 would feed a family of 4 Easily!
