Normally a great place for great coffee...but not today. Food was average but sent back and the coffee was burned. You would expect pancakes to be homemade and not from a packet and the cream to be whipped, not out of a can. Also, the picture had fresh fruit...ours had no fruit. To be told customers don't want fruit? Mmm, I ordered what was on the the picture! I would also not expect staff to follow you out the door arguing a point over whipped or canned cream being the same. Well, it isn't. I also would not expect the same staff to say that we complain every time we come in. Well, the last time the eggs were still raw in the omelette but the coffee was brilliant. The time before that, the Eggs Benedict was overcooked. But the coffee was brilliant. Being a fully trained barista and having been in the business for more years that I can count...I seek out great service and coffee. Yours is simply one of the best. We don't go out of our way to complain but when we do, it's valid. Sharpen up, train your staff in barista...$30+ for the experience is getting up there. Normally great,...
Read moreI try to avoid going here on our frequent trips to Whangarei because the prices are eye-watering and the coffee and food very average, but yesterday I took the plunge again as our visit to Mitre 10 had turned into an epic and this old man needed a sit-down. We simply can't afford the meals so we opted for coffees and snacks. The wife got a very ordinary and weak flat white and I got an extremely weak soy latte. My rather small caramel slice had very little flavour and no texture and the wife's date scone was just okay. We weren't offered a receipt (which I think should be obligatory) so I can't remember the precise prices but the $25.60 total felt like daylight robbery to this pensioner. I know that hospitality is a hard game but I think the management here are exploiting the situation, knowing that they'll get customers flowing in simply because they're tired of walking around the expanse of Mitre 10. If I was Mitre 10 management I would insist that the cafe...
Read moreVisited this cafe this morning for breakfast with my brother. After pondering their 'all-day' board (was a toss up between Columbus breakfast or sweetcorn fritters), I asked if I could have the Columbus breakfast with a couple of sweetcorn fritters as well. He asked the kitchen lady who said we dont have any fritters. How can you have an all day menu when something on there isnt available and not marked as not available. When the meals arrived we were not asked who had fried eggs or poached ... just plonked on the table. The menu stated mushrooms were a part of the breakfast ... we got 1 mushroom each which tasted like vinegar. The potato rosti looked & tasted like it had been heated in a microwave . Obviously not done on a hot plate as no caramalization on it at all. Terrible food with poor service - we definately wont be back! So if you're looking for great food & great service - go to Seasons Cafe...
