Read the reviews here on Google Reviews and was just as described. This is a new updated restaurant a great addition to the town. The highlight was the nostalgic old school fish and chips- served on a metal tray lined with a piece of paper (designed to look like vintage newspaper), accompanied with a slice of soft bread and butter, coleslaw, sweet condensed milk dipping sauce and the usual fish and chips tangy white sauce. The dish was perfectly battered and fried and was not oily or heavy. The restaurant Interior decor is simple, tastefully done with a nod to the Art Deco architecture. Walls are adorned with photos, pictures and a painting related to the locations history and fishing community. The manager is super lovely and shared very informative stories about the venue, staff are friendly and other dishes we tried (a raw fish starter and Kirkpatrick oysters) were also delicious. Will...

My friends and I had a wonderful dining experience here at the HiFri last week while on holiday in New Plymouth. We took a gamble without a reservation, however we were seated and served immediately by very friendly staff. Despite being busy, our food did not take long to arrive and we were blown away by the delicious fresh quality of the food. The Scallops and the Paua were exceptional! My wife also loved the french dressing on her salad. The relaxed ambience was cozy yet casual with an art-deco theme, and we liked the music - something we could go dancing to! Front of house staff Myron and Charlotte were both so attentive, kind, and knowledgeable about the local area. Myron was kind enough to talk to us about the history of the business which was really interesting and definitely a step above usual customer service. 10 points to the Chef and to Myron and his team, we will definitely come...

Fabulous mainly seafood restaurant with lots of history behind it. Extensive menu. My husband had breaded snapper and l had crab cakes, both served with fries, tartare and coleslaw with condensed milk dressing, a new one for us, but we loved it. Both meals were outstanding and you could tell the ingredients were fresh. We were served by Myone who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We also met the restaurant owner, Victor, and chatted for a while. He is obviously totally passionate about his business and it shows in the decor, staff and quality of meals. This is a wonderful place if you are a fish lover and l highly recommend you go there. Probably best to make a reservation especially at busy times, and be aware they close...

The most talked about restaurant in the last month - Hi-Fri Seafood Kitchen , former known as Marinovich’s Seafood Restaurant. Our family went there during one of the busy nights when everyone seemed to be in town and the place was full by 6pm! We liked the European design and sat down closer to kitchen to watch chefs at work. I have ordered the fish of the day, it was fresh, balanced and nutritious meal. My husband ordered a sirloin steak, that came with a superb pink that suggested a medium rare state of meat. Our son has ordered a seafood basket, which was an abundant offer, all cooked in semolina crumbs. Nice touch - they kept part of the original menu, so loyal locals can come and order the food they loved for decades. Hi 👋 Fri everyone!
