I had utterly terrible service at Little India in February last year. My husband and I ordered the tali and weren’t told that we didn’t choose the curries (so we did and got a really disappointing surprise) - It took ages to arrive and i ended up not eating mine because it wasn’t what I had ordered. The waitress returned after we had ordered and told us we had one option and the other was the dal but when our plates arrived it was a complete surprise, no dal, just randomz The waitress didn’t even know what she was giving us - so when we asked if we had been given a butter chicken she had to go back to the kitchen to check. After it had been delivered (literally half an hour after hour we had arrived) both staff on the floor avoided us like the plague. When we paid nobody asked how we had found the meal - because they didn’t want to know. We did mention it, and they were really defensive. One of the staff members was new, and hadn’t been super clear at communicating but there’s heaps you can do to make things better between delivering the meal and it being paid for untouched. I spent my entire lunch break and $30 on a meal I didn’t want or eat and got barked at for bringing it up. I don’t want a surprise curry - I would have ordered from the menu happily if i had known what I was ordering.
If that wasnt bad enough i followed up with an email, and was contacted promptly with a phone call and another email confirming that they would implement new processes to resolve the issue and send me a voucher to make up for the poor service/uneaten meal...
The voucher never arrived... In November last year, I was walking down Cuba street and was reminded about the missing voucher/terrible service. So I followed up - I got an email “whoops.... going in the mail today” two weeks later the voucher finally arrived.
Which brings me to today - I thought I might use the complementary voucher i was sent, and when i looked at it, it had expired in December. Id received a voucher with two weeks to use it over the Christmas period.
I’ve been told I can still use my expired voucher, but I won’t be returning to Little India Cuba Street, or any of the Wellington based Little India restaurants for that matter. The service I received and the attempted resolution has been completely humiliating and if anything has made the situation worse.
0/5 unbearable service, can’t rate the food because i...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at “Jugnu’s Little India” and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish here in Cuba Street.
The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a perfect balance of traditional and modern decor and melody background Music. It really set the tone for what turned out to be an incredible Indian meal.
As for the food, every dish we tried was bursting with authentic flavors. Each bite was a true testament to the skill and passion of the chefs. The spices were perfectly balanced, and you could tell that only the freshest ingredients were used. I also highly recommend the naan – it was soft, fluffy, and the perfect accompaniment to every dish & Tea which took me back to India for a minute.
What truly stood out, however, was the service. The staff Ms. @Shakti went above and beyond to ensure we had an exceptional dining experience. They were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They took the time to explain dishes to us and made great recommendations. The manager Ms. @Jasmin even stopped by our table to check on how we were enjoying everything, which really made us feel special.
Overall, “Jugnu's little india in Cuba Street” offers more than just great food – it’s a complete dining experience with top-notch service. I can’t wait to return and try more from their extensive menu..!!
Kudos to the two...
Read moreI recently visited Jugnus Little India on Cuba Street and had the chance to try their Amritsari Fish, Chicken 65, and Chilli Chicken.
Being from Punjab, I can say that the Amritsari Fish was excellent—perfectly spiced, not oily at all, with a great texture and generous portion size. It truly stood out as an authentic and well-prepared dish.
The Chicken 65 was a pleasant surprise. Many places tend to drown this dish in tomato puree, but here, the flavors were well-balanced and distinct. I really enjoyed it.
The Chilli Chicken, however, was a bit of a letdown. Some pieces were chewy, possibly undercooked, which took away from the overall experience.
In terms of service, it was very good. The staff was polite, attentive without being intrusive, and ensured a smooth dining experience.
The atmosphere had a lively Cuba Street vibe, though the music was a bit too loud for my taste (a personal preference). The only downside was the presence of some mosquitoes and flies, possibly due to the weather.
Overall, a great place with some standout dishes, excellent service, and a vibrant setting—just a few minor areas for improvement. Would definitely return for the Amritsari Fish...
