(updated)Visited Fudge Farm recently and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. We were a group of five and, in total, received 7 tastings — I personally had 2. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review — I appreciate the effort to acknowledge the issue, though I feel the full context wasn’t quite captured.
As an ice cream store, I would assume offering tastings is generally expected — how are customers meant to choose a flavour without knowing what they’re getting? When we politely asked to try different flavours, your staff member — who was not assisting anyone at the time and was standing at the counter looking at us (this should be visible on camera) — told us we couldn’t try any more unless we bought something first. That, combined with the tone and body language, made us feel like we were being treated as freeloaders. The reason only 2 ice cream was purchased in the end wasn’t due to lack of interest, but because the overall interaction had left us uncomfortable and disheartened, and off-putting.
As for the claim that your staff weren’t rude — while that may not show up on camera, passive-aggressive behaviour is often felt more than seen. It is the small gestures, but they speak volumes.
(original) Visited Fudge Farm recently and was really let down by the customer service. When we politely asked about other flavours, we were met with passive-aggressive and rude behaviour. For a place that sells premium-priced treats, you’d expect a more welcoming and customer-friendly experience. Unfortunately, we won’t be...

So the Fudge Farm sundae is what we ordered - when it was handed to me I must say I felt a little disappointed at the size but actually turns out it was the perfect size - large scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel sauce and real fudge crumble on top…but wait, once I got to the bottom of the cup there was a delicious fudge surprise. Next time I’m in Whangarei it will be my first stop.
Also great selection of scoop ice cream and nice outside area to sit with view of...
Read moreWe literally stopped in here 4!! times over the course of our time around the Whangarei basin. First time hubby was looking for coffee and the Fudge Farm had no lines. Later we went with kids for fudge and then in the afternoon for ice cream. As we were leaving hubby wanted another coffee so went back for the 4th time. Each time staff were really friendly and cheerful. Coffee was excellent and fudge definitely worth the visit - melt in your...
