Patio Rose Cafe — Restaurant in North Island

The staff are friendly enough. And the setting is nice. But have always found patio rose to be over priced for what you get. As an example we went on the weekend and my wife just wanted a small serving of eggs, bacon and mushrooms This alone was $27 which is more than you'd pay for a big breakfast with all the lashings anywhere else. I thought this would be more in the range of $15-20. In the past I've paid $14 for a sausage roll where other places might be $8-9 or maybe 10 at a push for one just as good. I don't often complain about service or price and I do realize costs are going up everywhere but I just don't feel like the price matches the product here. It also really irks me when you order then sit down and then when they bring the food out and then tell you Cutlery is "over there". Either the server should bring them, they should be on the table or you should be told that at the counter before you go and sit down. God I sound like...

Extremely underwhelmed. Was excited to eat here as I love the Garden Centre, but from the moment my partner and I walked in and were ignored by at least three staff, until I pushed my plate away unfinished we felt dissatisfied. We sat at a table that throughout our whole meal the plates and service-ware from the people before was not cleared. The food we ordered, which was the crispy smashed potato/mushroom/chorizo plate for both of us, did not represent what we actually got. We got a few boiled potatoes, that were barely cooked, a few barely sauteed mushrooms and chorizo. Both of our lattes (which looked beautiful!) were technically flat whites - no foam and too much milk. For the amount of money charged for our entire meal, I'd say it was highway robbery. Came here to grab a takeaway coffee and meal, it wasn't too busy. The service was lovely and friendly from the barista who took my order, the coffees were delicious and came out fast. I asked the server / barista if I could please have a crepe take away , she said she would go ask the chef, she came back and apologised as the chef said no? I told her that yesterday they said I could have pytti pana takeaway so ill just have that please. I waited and waited for my order then someone came and asked if I was waiting for something . It had been over half an hour. I finally got my Pytti Panna meal which said "crispy crushed potatoes etc" they were not crispy or crushed. They were soggy and bland. I didn't enjoy the meal.
