Sri Penang is one of the few places that's open on Saturday nights on The terrace, apparently they only started serving in the weekend a few weeks ago. We heard that the lamb curry is good so this was definitely one of the dishes we ordered, but then we also saw the nyonya platter and char koay teow, then with the recommendation of the chef, we also got the chicken pedas curry, then also added the mee mamak, basically we ordered too much 😅 The platter was filled with deep fried goodness, everything was flavourful, then came the chicken pedas, and the flavour took me by surprise, it was very rich and the chicken pieces were very tender, this came with a very big piece of roti as well! The lamb curry has a different flavour but equally rich, the lamb melting in your mouth, I can see why this is the most popular dish! The char koay teow was a very large serving and has a very strong charred flavour, if you like that then it should be up you alley. The mee Mamak I personally liked more than the char koay teow, it has a sweet taste to start then the spiciness kicked in, then I realized I was too weak for the spiciness 🤣 overall very happy with everything we had ordered, I would definitely be back for that chicken pedas curry! It looks like they have a curry plus roti lunch deal for $16 too which is very convenient for anyone working around that area on a weekday. Going there on a Saturday night it was very empty, so if you feel like anything Malaysian I would say give them a try, highly recommend...
Read moreExcellent alternative breakfast spot! While I have been here before and thoroughly enjoyed their Wednesday special (slow cooked brisket), their breakfast menu is phenomenal. I will be back to try new things, but just their eggs bene with a Malaysian twist is better than any others in the city to me. It is affordable, and warming, without being too heavy. I had with their hot tea, which was a bit bitter for my liking, but I will try their iced version to see if this changes. I love the chicken curry in the bene, the curry-spiced hollandaise, and the foundational roti, which I devoured right after everything on top! Good service, and I will be back to try their kaya toast and burrito thing. Much enjoyment here for a solid weekday meal!
Edit: had their kaya toast and their pancake; both good, but not as good as the eggs bene! Also, my soft eggs and toast were cold, which was not my favourite. I definitely recommend trying the eggs bene over these options.
Edit: had their Wednesday stewed beef special, omg my favourite dish. Highly recommend. A bit spicy, like medium - hot, but I loved it. Also, you only get your choice of seating if you’re 2 + people, as I was moved to a bench.
Edit: went for their medium chicken curry, wow so good! Great with...
Read moreI have been a regular weekly patron of Little Penang when they were on The Terrace and now 're-opened' as Sri Penang several shops down the road. The food is consistently good even when delivered. I have young kids and surprisingly their favourite is the Mee Siam (they love the flavour even though it is still much too spicy for their little tastebuds when we get the 'mild' version!). The Nasi Tok Ma special on Wednesdays is a real treat, and I especially love it on cooler Wellington days - hearty and full of flavour, just warms you from inside out. The servings are always generous, there's always leftovers for lunch...
