We saw they do Asian dessert and since they also offer yum cha, we met here for lunch to see how they are. We were very happy with their fried squid, we agreed that this was probably the best dish from all we had ordered, the prawn and chive dumpling had a lot of filling and the turnip cake was not too bad. We were all quite disappointed with their beef tendon because albeit it was very tender and very well cooked, the flavoring was not very good and unlike any others we have ever tried, we could not even finish this dish and it's at the bottom of our list. The prawn rice roll had a very alarming presentation, we were all joking that we thought the prawns would be inside the rolls, but the flavour was quite nice, although the skin was on the thick side, but the texture was good and we were happy enough about this. Then we tried the sticky rice in lotus wrap and it was very sour in some parts, originally I thought it was off, but then I realized that it was just way too much vinegar and lots and lots of ginger, I would rate this very low as well. Then came the dessert that we were hoping to get and when it arrived, unfortunately the tofu had gone off and was sour, we went to tell the chef about this and they said okay, we did not realize until much later that they had just decided to remove this from our bill and were not going to replace this, so we never really got to eat this dessert properly, we did eat the pearls however, because they were not off, and they were very nice and chewy, such a pity.
Revisit: hotpot dinner 18/01/2025
Even though it's not the coldest day of the year, but when our friends wanted to treat us to hotpot dinner, we could not say no! I have heard much about the hot pot offering at dumpling company on the terrace, so we had to give it a try. Our friends did the ordering and we highly recommend the chestnut chicken soup base, it was very umami, and I could easily finish the whole pot of soup! We got the half-and-half for variety and the other half is the typical mala soup base which is very spicy. We started off with some BBQ beef and pork skewers, then a variety of meats and vegetables added to the soup. Sorry I did not take a photo of the selection menu, but whatever you get, you have to get the napa cabbage because it just soaks up all the goodness of the flavour. We also got the lychee slushy which was the special of the day and it was very refreshing. For dessert, we got the famous tofufa (which is a bit like tofu jelly) with red bean, taro starch balls and bubbles/pearls. Photographed were also the mochi doughnuts (with peanut sprinkles), jelly dessert and the kid's crushed ice dessert, it came with a piece of panda lemon cake which the kids loved. Addition video of the sauce selection, which was very...
Read morewent for lunch with a group of 5. The service was ok - but there are some major issues. Dumplings came out within 6 minutes (which is great) but they were lukewarm. Why?
I ordered the chicken mushroom 16 dumplings, but was served the 10. This is forgivable - mistakes happen - but I was not sure I was given the right flavour so I mentioned that too. Staff were happy to fix it up since I brought back the dish after eating only one.
Rather than replacing the entire dish - a few minutes later they dropped the same plate back to me, saying that the type of dumpling was correct but they would bring back the missing part of the order soon! Unheard of. Now my meal was almost stone cold. The temperature difference between the first part of my meal and the remaining 6 dumplings was considerable - the fresh ones were piping hot. All these things are, in part, forgivable. and I'm fully supportive small business, especially having worked in the food industry for many years, and having run my own business for nearly a decade - but there is one thing that is totally unforgivable - and that is: unfortunately this meal gave me significant tummy issues. I'll say no more on that. It was unpleasant.
The food that I had was under-seasoned. The duplings were mushy and watery. I would rate the presentation at about 4/10. Edible, but honestly not full of flavour and I also note other reviewers (several) stating the same thing about the chicken mushroom dumplings. Others at my table however, had a pleasant experience, rating the food verbally at around 6/10, so perhaps it was just my dish? Other dishes around the table looked ok, and the price was reasonable considering we had a 'sit down' meal.
The staff appeared very busy, and hard working. My overall summary is - this is a hard working joint, but with some potentially serious issues with either food practices, or hygiene. I look forward to hearing from the owners but will be unlikely...
Read moreMe and my mates booked a kbbq for a table of 7. There was no one at the front and we had to walk to the counter to ask to be seated for our reservation. The owner came over and looked very friendly to us and told us to eat our fill and we can stay as long as we liked.
The food came after around 20 minutes which is normal. Until we wanted to order more food, we waved for a waiter to order more food and the food took an abnormally long time to arrive. We were sat waiting for around 30 minutes, plus we had to remind them on our order. The seats we were sitting on also weren't that comfortable.
We received our meats for the second round and the meats that were given to us felt like they came straight from the freezer as it came to us still a bit iced. After we finished the second fill, this is where it got worse. It took us nearly 10 minutes to wave a waiter to come serve us. We then ordered a few more plates as a few of us were still hungry. They got our order, and we had to wait nearly 50 minutes for our food. After the owner also came to us 30 minutes in asking us if we were waiting on anything. We ordered only 5 plates and didn't expect it to be that long. 2 of them being squid and prawn and the others just their pineapples beef, and wagyu beef. Which should have already been prepared before.
When the order came we were only served 3 of the 5 plates that we ordered. We didn't bother chasing up on the order as we knew that they would have just stalled more time and wasted our time. We were given only the prawn, squid and a plate of wagyu beef.
Overall this experience was terrible and wouldn't recommend anyone who's looking for an all you can eat kbbq. Service was slow, and it felt like they purposely slowed down our order to prevent us from...
