Pompeii Pizza — Restaurant in Palmerston North

The food was OK, the pizza base of the garlic entree was not great. We didn't eat most of our food as our order was given to the table behind us who ate theirs and ours with glee. After 45 mins I got up and went to pay for our entree. The waitress ended up taking our misplaced order that the other table had half eaten, and joined me at the front desk as I paid for our entree, and asked weather we should pay for the food that they didn't give us and someone else ate? Ridiculous. We didn't get offered any recompense for their muck up and our ruined evening. 45.min there with no dinner, no apology from the manager, instead they were annoyed that they had just started to put in a new order but we had to go to a performance. Not impressed and won't be back. Rather rude, incompetent and ordinary food.

19th October. My 15 year old son and I arrived at 5.30pm. We sat, if you are facing the kitchen from the door , 1/2 way down on the left hand side. There was an older couple in their late 60's-70's who came behind us and ate the beef lasagna that we ordered and then ate his schnitzel after finishing 1/2 of my sons dinner. There was a male chef in his 40's. Two young waitresses around 17-20.

We were there until 6.20pm. I hope this reignites your waitress' memory. Initially we were accused of eating the older couples dinner. Which we didn't, and then were told that you have altered the table numbers and positions, ...

Really yummy pizza's! The CCC was amazing!! The starter breads delish and tge kids pizza well topped. The chips were overcooked, to which the staff said was just how they do it and to next time ask for them to be cooked less. We had 4 sides of chips, 3bowls came out first then the last bowl a few mins later, which were less cooked than the others.(the only bowl that looked nice) So the first 3 bowls were more cooked than the last. Not ones to normally complain, so ate them anyway. The ice cream at the end for the kids was not the nicest either. We were a table of 6. We were only allowed an hour 15 to eat everything and go which made the birthday dinner feel rushed and the kids ice creams were to go as we didn't have enough time to stay and eat. The staff said to take our time, but they also reiterated that we booked at their busiest time 5.30 on a Friday, so we clock watched the whole time. We travelled longer (2 hours) to get to the place than the time we were allowed to stay for! Thought that was just a Wellington or Auckland...

It is such a shame because the food is nice but the service is terrible. It is impossible to get through. I have 2 times given up and called elsewhere for takeaway as they just don't answer the phone. Tonight I again couldn't get through, decided to go in and give them the benefit of the doubt (maybe they were busy). There was literally noone else in the restaurant. I said is your phone diverted to your answer phone? I've been ringing for 30 minutes with no answer. Oh is it? (Great response). I did get a throw away sorry after making my order... But noone really cared. So I'm now waiting 20 minutes for my takeaway on a cold night. No its not the end of the world but its just so avoidable with even average customer service. Note - Since I told them to un-divert their phone it's been ringing pretty consistently. How much business are you guys losing? Rant over. It just sucks because this place used to be great and Palmy needs places like this. It's just not worth it now with this service, I think I'll give up...
