Sushi Mall — Restaurant in South Island

Great place to eat. I would recommend the crispy chicken riceballs and the chicken katsu! This place is the epitome of 'Pimp your riceballs', you can customise your rice ball with almost any sauce and meats they have at no extra cost (except a dollar more when you want avocado). Lunch time might get a bit busy but everybody is working as hard as they can! Maybe avoid lunch time if you're on a really tight lunch schedule but the food is worth the wait.

I did work there for a short stint, the boss is the friendlist person I know and anyone would be lucky to have him as an employer. Stuff can get tense in the kitchen which might cause him to snarl at you but I think thats normal when things get a bit busy.

10/10 would...

Nice little place with several types of cold dishes to help yourself to or a whole menu of hot food prepared form scratch to order or ready to grab and go. I had ordered beef yaki udon and was blown away by the dish. Just hit the spot. My partner was very happy with his benot box too. There is free water to help yourself to. Orders are placed at the counter, where you also pay at the same time. I was charged a little more then expected due to change of prices, though I would have expected to know that prior my order,that the prices are slightly adjusted. It was not an issue. Utterly dissatisfied with my experience here. I chose the mini vegetable & falafel bento but requested there be extra veggies instead of falafel. They agreed. However, what I received was a bowl of rice with diced cucumber and shredded bits of carrots and cabbage, and pickled capsicum or similar. No hot vegetables were in sight. They weren’t even seasoned or cooked; they were raw. I had to add soy sauce to eat it. I wish I had taken a picture of it to show on here. I was ashamed FOR them. No customer should experience what I had experienced. I sincerely hope that Sushi Mall improves their food content and quality...
