Burger Geek (Eden Terrace) — Restaurant in Waitematā

2024 edit: Came here again, and again the fries were absolute trash. Again, greasy horrible dregs. Ruined the meal. The morty burger was pretty good, but man these folks straight up can't do good fries, which is a major problem for a burger joint.

Previous review: Overall I'd say average, but looks like when things are on song it could be quite good (has plenty of good reviews.)

Their Bishop burger was quite nice, but really lacking in sauce to tie the flavours together. Beef and bacon were nice, and it was a good size. Just not feeling the love in how it was prepared.

Fries were awful. The shoestrings I was served were full of oil (which likely wasn't hot enough) and basically just looked like the scraps/dregs at the bottom of the pack. Mostly tiny, greasy offcuts. Gourmet burgers with rich ingredients need fresh, crispy, salty fries to shine. These were just a huge letdown and I could only stomach a handful before the whole meal felt greasy. (The rosemary salt, to me, tasted weird. More rosemary than salt. Should be optional extra.)

Staff weren't particularly friendly and seemed disinterested which might explain the quality control with the fries/burger.

May give it another go as it seems there's a great burger experience to be had, just gotta pull...

Ok so back in 2020 this was voted the best burger 🍔 joint in the world 🌎 Now in 2023 it's still in the top 3 which is super impressive, I just had to check it out. I walked half a hour through the hilly roads of Auckland New Zealand to get to this place. Knowing that I've done my cardio, I was really excited to try this burger and was hoping they would have vegi or halal options available and to my surprise they do have halal options available Alhumdulillah! I ordered myself a Morty halal burger with fries and a drink, on there computer screen and you can see the wonderful stuff preparing our food and getting it ready. Yes It's reference to Rick and Morty there's a lot of cool anime references in BG. My meal was made quite quickly and it all looked great, 😊 taste test 😋 well what can I say this is the best burger I've ever had. I super recommend this establishment. Seriously if you are in Auckland NZ why haven't you tried Burger Geek !!!!!!!!

As mentioned before I did contact BG before visiting to ask them if they serve halal burger, they responded fast and I set off to order the best burger I've ever had. We need a BG in London if we don't have...

I've been to many burger joints all over the world. I've had them in a range of styles from your simple humble burger to those that realistically are more publicity stunt than anything edible. I tell you this because I want you to know I am serious when I say that the burgers tat Burger Geek rank among the best I have had, probably number two, and only because number one has a nostalgic reason for it's rank but without it these burgers would be in its place.

At Burger Geek the prices are reasonable, the food fresh and good, and the service friendly. The burger names - fun, the venue - small but just what it needs to be and clean. I had meant to go here years ago when they opened but just never made it. Finally I tried it and now will forever regret those missed years. The meat is fresh and well cooked, the buns light but not too light, the other additions well proportioned. The burger is what some may consider light on sauce but this lets the other parts of it speak for themselves.
