Incredible ramen 🍜 Absolute perfection in the art of ramen. This place deserves five stars, easily. The bad/mediocre reviews are from people who are happy to eat authentic ramen, but not within the authentic ramen-house culture. They want westernised atmosphere, service and culture serving authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price - and that is bollox imo. Dining out is a wholistic experience and anyone who disrespects this restaurant are not appreciating the nuance. This beautiful, reasonably priced, delicious, generous, sumptuous and authentic ramen is served by two people. Family run. A presumably married couple. This is essentially their front room and home. Show some respect‼️ People will not wait patiently or even observe how busy the sous-chef/waiter/front of house lady is before demanding immediate attention. People don’t bother to do the homework that clearly details the politely requested preference that you BOOK before coming. They also criticise the decor without appreciating the reasonable prices that are due to it. Come on guys… if you want authentic ramen for an extortionate price in a westernised bourgeois atmosphere with continental cocktails and plentiful staff to kiss your a$$ - go to Ponsonby’s Chop Chop noodle house. It is another amazing eatery, but NOT an authentic ramen house. When you come to Ramen Do taste this excellence and experience the culture surrounding it. Enjoy the incredibly reasonable prices and the privilege of access you have to the two people who are bringing this gift of soups to you....

What can I say except that this is the best Ramen place in Auckland? Been here for the past 4 years and have tried out basically everything on the menu. Their miso Ramen is their staple dish, absolutely unbeatable, never tasted anything better. Their other Ramen dishes are also great, there's something for every mood from the yuzu salt to the tonkotsu. The Ramen broths are richly flavored and multifaceted, and the noodles taste just so perfect. I have never tasted such balanced Ramen anywhere else, other places often add salt and msg to artificially bring out more flavor. The chef is also very friendly, he says bye with a smile every single time and you just know he takes pride in his work. Their ice cream is also really good, surprisingly. What I don't recommend though is any of their rish dishes or sides - they do taste quite bland, like an afterthought. Come here for their unbeatable Ramen!

Their prices are also quite reasonable, even though they've raised it a bit over the years. You are guaranteed to get full - it's only $1 for an upsize and $2 for extra noodles. And they have a plethora of toppings you can add on like vegetables and meat for affordable prices. Writing this review with...

This is my favourite Japanese ramen spot in Auckland. Located on upper Symonds Street, it can be a bit tricky to find, but it's undoubtedly the most authentic Japanese ramen restaurant around. It has won awards every year from 2015 to 2024. Today, after work, my partner and I visited because the weather was freezing, and she wanted a warm, hearty meal. To avoid the rush, we arrived about 20 minutes before opening and were the first customers for dinner.

Ordering is done through a kiosk machine. I got spicy miso ramen for my partner, who loves spicy food, and I chose the Gyokai Shio Ramen, a recommended dish. For sides, we ordered a vegetable croquette and shrimp gyoza. The staff were kind and friendly, and the meal was incredibly satisfying. The authentic soup and noodles reminded me of my last trip to Japan. The spiciness of the miso soup enhanced the flavour of the noodles and paired perfectly with the gyoza. The shio ramen was so delicious that it made me feel nostalgic.

We enjoyed a warm, pleasant time inside the restaurant. The quiet atmosphere added to our comfort. This place is definitely highly recommended for anyone who loves...
