Used to be my favorite bar but these days you just pay a door charge which they don't charge to locals just to see 2 bands and listen to a dj that doesn't play the music they advertised literally had to beg for a sleep token song when it was advertised as a headline and the next time I went up to ask when the good music would start got told I already had a request so got told no it's not happening and the proceeded to play crappy dad rock like acdc guy was a total dick killed the night and its literally a joke of a bar now which used to be a go to for alternative people and you wonder why it was so dead and i just wish I could get that money back and we came from out of town for this so won't be back any time soon
Just to reply to that you hold events like this constantly at least you used to has been a while since I lived in aucks so has been awhile since I've been in but we were talking to multiple tables who were all laughing that we paid to get in and that they saw the bands for free and honestly nothing against those bands they were good but you barely played any of the music that you advertised and that's why it was only older people in there the younger people like me left because you weren't playing anything good like where was the bring me the horizon and northlane like sleep token he only played one because I begged him like 3 times then one more later the rest wasn't even the genre you advertised and we came from out of town for this as well mate so that's...
Read moreI come to Ding Dong with a friend of mine everytime I'm in Auckland and usually its a really good time. Last night unfortunately was a bad experience. We both bought tickets to Goth Night, and we were really looking forward to it. We weren't in there long before the bouncer came to me and told me that I had to leave because I apparently grabbed a bartender. I did no such thing! I don't know if I got mistaken for someone else or what, but I had to leave without seeing any of the bands that i paid for. I feel like I should try pursue a refund but have no idea of how to do that. I feel bad for the low rating because usually we have such a great time here, but getting thrown out because of a mistaken identity or some other reason where I wasn't at fault is inexcusable. We don't get to go out often so this was very upsetting. It ruined...
Read moreI was quite nervous about coming here as I had heard from friends a few years ago that it isn't a very safe place for women, but I came here for Emo Night and not only did I feel safe the entire time but the vibes were absolutely IMMACULATE! No creepy guys, just lots of cool people having a great time! The staff inside were quite friendly too and I could see what looked like security constantly looking around and keeping an eye on things!
Edit: I have since been back quite a few times for various gigs and themed nights. I have encountered only two creeps, but they are definitely the exception and not the rule as it has consistently been a safe, fun, and positive vibe! Would recommend giving Metal Night a miss though since everyone just sits at their tables and tbh you can also sit and listen to...
