Island Gelato Co. Newmarket — Restaurant in Waitematā

Nowadays I just go here for free taste tests in order to make up the $40 the manager promised to refund me.

Update: Manager commented below saying to contact them directly prior to posting a bad review on here but that is exactly what we did we did contact him first!

Manager made contact requesting our bank details and said he was going to refund us straight away and send us some vouchers, but received nothing.

Dreadful unprofessional service! Spent $40 on ice creams, the payment didnt go thru twice cause it came up printer error after paying both times so hows the customer meant to know it didnt go thru when it instantly skips to "printer error" after paying. The lady instead of walking over to us made it common knowledge to the people waiting in the queue but instead of saying payment didnt go thru cause of the error with their machine she stated to the queue of people waiting that we hadnt paid causing us to get abuse from those in the queue waiting. Never encountered such a terrible unprofessional way to sort an issue and no apologie what so ever about it being their eftpos machine issue or for the abuse we copped! Choice, taste and value for money.... that's what I look for in my gelato. I'm not a dessert person but I love my ice creams and sorbets and gelatos. I had my first taste of Island Gelato at the Westfield Newmarket and wow! I had something with Boysenberry, Mascarpone and ginger and second scoop of Chocolate Almond Praline. Both flavors were incredible! The Boysenberry Ginger one was unlike anything I've ever eaten with chunky bits of ginger crumb generously scattered through the gelato. I could have done with more praline in the other one though. The staff were friendly and the lovely girl who made up my cone was generous in her servings (She really made my day! I was like a kid at the candy store!) The cone isn't waffle but hey, that gelato still rocked my world. Two nice-sized scoops in a cone and it only cost me $11! I'm definitely going...

i come here all the time but was recently served by some polynesian girl with glasses (see photos) who apparently has never heard of the term customer service. no greeting, no politeness, literally just glaring at you and not saying anything. that would be fine if the gelato was good (which is usually is with all other staff members) but this girl has decided to make the scoops as small as possible on top of her horrible attitude and non existent customer service. never going back- movenpick and duck island down the road are much...
