I've been coming here for one week and spend close to $800 here in that time. In that time I was looked after by a very nice person by the name of Luke. Luke has always been welcoming and been the main reason why we went back everyday.
However today being Saturday, Luke and the normal staff were not in. This meant we were looked after by someone else, at 1st they refuse to even acknowledge that we had walked in and were waiting for a table, I was given a table after I asked for a table.
Once we were seated, the table was not cleared or ready for anyone to be on it.
I understand that Saturday's can be busy but they simply were not busy at all. There was a total of 10 staff working including one of the owners. Our food came out, really wasn't anything to amazing, it was nice but not amazing.
As I went to leave I paid, trusting that the waitress had charged us the correct amount. Once I got out I soon realised we were overcharged by $80.
Thinking this will not be a problem to fix I went back to get the situation dealt with. The waitress had passed me on to someone else who passed me on to someone else who eventually passed me on to the owner.
The owner told me he would not be able to pay me back into my bank and then he would need to take cash from the tip jar that belongs to the staff and some from the till. ( who is even proud to say that, that's your staffs money not yours!)
Having owned 10 successful cafes myself I didn't understand why I couldn't have the money back the way I paid for my very overpriced breakfast.
I was then given some story that they are unable to do this as no one in New Zealand has this technology yet! Yep you read that right!!!
This person was trying to give me a stupid excuse of basicly trying to convince me that we lived in the prehistoric times!
He then went on to blame his staff for the reason why nothing works in the place I told him why are you not acting like a leader and leading his team! He is responsible for all that happens in this place! To which he strongly disagreed with.
In the end I completely gave up and just took the damn cash. There was no apology just a silence of ignorance and ego.
I've never seen such lack of accountability from a business owner and I 3000% would not be returning to a place run by a person like that, There are far better places in the area that I rather give my money too.
The correct way to handle the situation would have been to just apologise for the mistake and then move on, not sit there and tell me how far behind New Zealand technology is and blame everyone else other than yourself for the reason why things do not work!
