Had a horrible experience at the Sofitel spa. On 13th September 2023, my husband had gifted me a spa experience at Sofitel for my birthday on the same day. I went for their ‘Head to toe’ treatment which included a facial, full body massage and pedicure/manicure. I was done with the treatment at about 4 pm. During my birthday dinner at 8pm, I started experiencing pain in my left cheek muscles, at the spot where the therapist had massaged my face. By 10 pm, my cheek had started to swell and by 1 am the pain was so severe I had to take pain relief to sleep. The next morning, the swelling worsened considerably and I had to Auckland city hospital emergency room to get myself checked. The pain was too severe for me to chew any solid foods, or to even open my mouth. Auckland city hospital took an x-ray of my cheek, gave me antibiotics and pain relief and asked me to see a dentist as soon as possible. By this time, I had emailed Sofitel informing them about the negative effects of my experience. I was told in an email by their spa reception that they were sorry this happened but no one bothered to call and check on me as their management was ‘off-site’. The next day, the spa manager called me and refused to accept that the issue was caused due to their service and must have been ‘due to my own underlying issues’. I had no previous or pre-existing issues with my health or dental care whatsoever, and asked for a refund of the treatment which should have been offered by the hotel themselves. I also asked them to cover the cost of the dentist treatment caused by their facial treatment but was declined. I went to the dentist who has now given me stronger antibiotics and pain relief, and I have to be on constant medication to function as the pain is too severe when the pain relief wears off. This does not even begin to cover off the distress and emotional trauma this has caused me, it’s 3rd day since my facial, my face is still terribly swollen, and regretting I ever visited the Sofitel Spa. And there is no follow up or an ounce of empathy from Sofitel, a so-called renowned brand in New Zealand. 0/10,...
Read moreWe enjoyed the Sofitel Spa’s “Journey for Two” for my girlfriend’s birthday and it was exceptional. On arrival, valet parking took care of us for no extra charge, to make getting to the spa a breeze (and made us feel particularly bougie!). The package included a 1 hour massage, 1 hour facial, and 30 minutes of relaxation in a spa with a glass of bubbly, for around about $700 all together. I don’t think I’ve ever felt quite so pampered - it was just bliss for hours. The spa staff were so skilled, kneading out our knots and tight muscles. Afterwards, we made use of the pool and jacuzzi that was also included. I’m afraid I might be hooked, and that we’ll have to make this an...
Read moreThis spa is incredible. Every single person I met in the spa was kind, warm and went out of their way to make the experience special. My facial included a wonderful foot, shoulder and hand massage and my therapist was one of the best I've ever had. She really cared about what she was doing and was so professional and a truly lovely woman. Please pass on my gratitude to her - she is such an asset to your business. I also arrived early and used the pool and sauna - well worth doing if you have the time. Very clean as well, with copious amounts of fresh towels and everything you could need, from deodorant to quality moisturiser and hair wash. I will...
