Saloon Bar — Restaurant in Waitematā

I love this Karaoke bar, the vibes are always great and the drinks are cheap. My only complaint is a specific person that runs the karaoke part. I’m not sure their pronouns but every time I have went there they have been more drunk than I have. They seem wasted most times I’m there but it didn’t bother me until tonight when I requested a song and they said it would come up in 5 songs. I waited an hour and my boyfriend had his song come up when I requested mine way before him, I went up and asked why my song didn’t get played and they said I needed to request a song people knew. I requested Messy by Lola young, which I am sure people know. It wouldn’t have been a problem if they mentioned this when i originally requested the song. I then asked if I could play another song and they said and I quote “sweetheart, you need to leave and come back when you figure out a better song”. I had originally requested an hour before so I was reasonably upset. They were extremely rude and couldn’t even look me in the eye with how drunk they were. I really like this bar and I usually would never shame an employee drinking on shift when working at a bar but I think getting drunk and being rude isn’t cool. Dear Saloon Bar, I made way to the Saloon Bar on 21st May 2025 around midnight where I noticed levels of discrimination and immature behaviour from your security guards. As soon as exited my vehicle, the guards started to laugh at me talking to each other, saying I won’t be entering with Uggs(my Kmart booties). I over heard them and thought they were joking so I tried to enter although declined respectfully I quickly changed into my heels, finally entering the bar. I meet up with my cousins inside the bar and see a friend of hers wearing the same exact Kmart booties(not uggs) that I was declined upon my entry. I also noticed that she was WHITE, later on I caught on to the security guards communicating with my cousins and her friend in a playful and flirty manner. Then I noticed they allowed another WHITE older lady enter the bar with a mangled bra and mini skirt she was very nice lady but her behaviour exhibited meth use. I do not have anything personal against any of these women, I just don’t understand why I am treated any different. 🌟 1‑Star Review for Salon Bar – Auckland CBD I’m writing to share a very disappointing experience from Saturday night 19/jul I placed a large pouch on my table that contained my passport, wallet, phone, and apartment keys—everything I had with me—and I was completely sober, just talking with a friend.

During our visit, the entire pouch disappeared. When I reported it to security, they showed zero concern, used rude and aggressive language, refused to assist in any way, and declined to check CCTV footage. The lack of support and respect was shocking. Losing all my essential items under their watch has made me feel unsafe at this venue.

I’ve reported the incident to the NZ Police and am taking steps to replace my documents and safeguard my identity. Until Salon Bar seriously improves its security practices, I cannot...
