I’m not a tourist, but because my home is currently undergoing major repairs, I needed to stay for two nights. I didn’t make the booking or payment myself, so I’m not sure about the price. Check-in and check-out were handled without unnecessary friendliness, which I actually found very comfortable. As mentioned, I’m not a tourist, so being asked where I’m from or what I plan to do today would only make me feel awkward, even if the staff meant well. I truly appreciated the simple and minimal interaction. The walls are quite thin — I could clearly hear normal conversations from the neighbouring room. I believe the same goes both ways, so I think it’s better not to be too sensitive about it. Most guests are probably aware of the noise themselves. Although the room was small, I didn’t find any signs of bedbugs or anything else concerning. The only inconvenience was that the electric kettle was fixed inside the wardrobe, apparently for security reasons, so the only way to boil water was inside the closet. Coffee and tea were provided, but I accidentally used pepper instead of sugar for my first cup, as they were stored together. The shower wasn’t very strong, but there was plenty of hot water. The view from the window was excellent, with the Sky Tower right in front of us. What surprised me most was that my child’s bed had a waterproof sheet covering the whole mattress. My child doesn’t wet the bed, but in such a small room it’s easy to spill water by accident, so I appreciated the thoughtful preparation. Although the notice said that housekeeping is done every three days, when we returned after going out, the bathroom had been cleaned, the room tidied without touching our belongings, and new towel sets were provided. I was pleasantly surprised. As a small gesture of thanks, I removed all the sheets before checking out to make cleaning easier. It was still a pleasant experience. Thank you very much for the stay.

Possibly the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever had the displeasure of staying in. The lobby greeted me with the overwhelming scent of curry, not the comforting kind, but the "someone reheated leftovers in a sock" kind. I walked into my room and was hit with air so stale it felt like the windows had been sealed shut since the late '90s. Not to mention the entire second floor reeked of cigarettes, like an old pub carpet from the days when your granddad could chain-smoke through three pints and a packet of peanuts. A mini fridge sat awkwardly right beside the bed, off, of course, quite possibly so it could marinate in its own funk. When I bravely turned it on, it roared to life louder than the A380 I flew in on. I'm guessing it was off to preserve the peace or to keep guests from fleeing. As for cleanliness? Bring a bio suit. There was dust and hair lurking in every corner, mold making a bold statement in the bathroom, and an extractor fan clogged with so much skin cells it could probably be cloned. The toilet? Only cleaned where the sun shines, lift the seat and you’re greeted by a horror show of dried feces. And just when I thought I’d seen it all, a face towel proudly presented… a pubic hair. This wasn’t just dirty it was biohazard chic. It doesn’t even deserve the 1 star I’ve given it, but Google won’t allow a zero. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!.

Service is great. This is another VR group hotel. They seem to specialise in the minimalistic approach and with rooms in need of an update. Rooms are basic and tiny but are kept clean. Shower cubicle was tiny, if you’re on the larger side of the human race overall you might have difficulty in the bathroom. I’m average build and I struggled. Things are getting worn out, the room had water stains on the carpet and the elevator electronic key access was taped up with clear tape. This is not a cleaning or staff issue but seem to be a lack of investment in the property by the VR group. No plates or anywhere to eat other than on the bed and all you get is a couple of cups and glasses. Coffee sachets, tea, creamer etc are in the room ….. but no kettle. No ironing facilities in the room you have to use the common laundry room. Seems to have more of a hostel feel than a hotel. For the price paid you are better off going to one of the nearby hostels and saving some money or paying a bit more and staying at their sister building VR Queen St ten steps away. All you’re going to get is a room and a attaches shower. Other places in the CBD offer that for less

Ascotia Off Queen, located in the heart of Auckland, stands out as a beacon of comfort and convenience. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted by a sense of warmth and hospitality that set the tone for a delightful stay.

One of the key highlights of Ascotia Off Queen is its prime location. Situated in close proximity to Auckland's major attractions, shopping districts, and entertainment hubs, the hotel provides a perfect launching pad for exploring the vibrant city. Whether I wanted to stroll through Queen Street, visit the iconic Sky Tower, or experience the local dining scene, everything was conveniently within reach.

The hotel's commitment to guest comfort is evident in its well-appointed rooms. My accommodation was spacious, tastefully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities to meet all my needs. The attention to detail in the room's design and furnishings contributed to a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a welcoming retreat after a day of exploring the city.

The staff at Ascotia Off Queen were exceptional in their service. From check-in to check-out, every interaction was characterized by professionalism and genuine friendliness. The staff members were quick to assist with any inquiries, provide local recommendations, and ensure that my stay was as seamless as possible. Their commitment to guest satisfaction was evident throughout my visit.

The hotel's dining options added an extra layer of convenience. The on-site restaurant served a delicious array of dishes, catering to various tastes. The breakfast buffet, in particular, offered a diverse selection to kickstart the day. The quality of the food and the pleasant dining ambiance reflected the hotel's dedication to providing a comprehensive and enjoyable guest experience.

Ascotia Off Queen also boasts a range of facilities that enhance the overall stay. The fitness center provided a convenient space to stay active, and the business center catered to those with work-related needs. The inclusion of these amenities added value to the overall guest experience, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

The hotel's commitment to sustainability is noteworthy. Ascotia Off Queen has implemented eco-friendly practices, demonstrating a responsible approach to hospitality. This includes initiatives such as energy-efficient lighting, waste reduction, and environmentally conscious operations—a positive step toward promoting sustainable tourism.

The housekeeping standards at Ascotia Off Queen were impeccable. The rooms were consistently well-maintained, and the cleanliness throughout the hotel was of a high standard. This attention to hygiene and sanitation is crucial, especially in the current global climate, and it contributed significantly to my overall sense of comfort and well-being during my stay.

The Wi-Fi connectivity at the hotel was reliable and fast, meeting the needs of both business and leisure travelers. In today's digital age, having seamless internet access is crucial, and Ascotia Off Queen ensures that guests stay connected with ease.

In conclusion, Ascotia Off Queen exceeded my expectations in providing a memorable and enjoyable stay in Auckland. The combination of its central location, well-appointed rooms, attentive staff, and commitment to guest satisfaction makes it a standout choice for anyone visiting the city. Whether for business or leisure, Ascotia Off Queen offers a welcoming haven in the heart of Auckland, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to...

Please AVOID this health hazard of a hotel. Black mould in the bedroom and bathroom - see pictures to believe the extent of it.

We booked and paid for a Queen Room but were given a lower spec room with 2 single beds pushed together. Went to reception and was told there was nowhere for us to move as they were fully booked. They offered no recompense for the downgrade - felt like a scam where they're overselling the higher priced rooms beyond capacity.

The room was tiny (door almost hit the bed, no room to put a bag down without having to climb over it) and unclean. Thick dust and what looked like blood or spilt food on skirting boards (see picture). Black mould spores all over the windows, walls, and on the curtains (see picture). No ventilation so the windows are dripping with condensation. Broken and worn window seals. Water pressure was poor and inconsistent. "Complimentary" body wash was empty. Bags of towels and bedding were just left in the hallways? Noisy: both noise from the street (windows are single-glazed) and you can hear word-for-wors the people in the room nextdoor as the walls were stud walls, not of solid construction.

Honestly, the whole building is just rundown and dingy - management clearly doesn't care. They should be shutdown for the horrendous mould problem alone. I honestly think they're buying the recent good reviews. Either that or they're fake.

Please don't be drawn in by the relatively low price for the CBD - it's a waste of money. Save yourself the stress (and potential respiratory illness) and stay somewhere else. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We moved straight to the Holiday Inn Express and it felt like luxury with a better location for only a...
