My first time coming here and driving here through the Queen Street entrance. It can be easily missed as you don't see the park from the road or entrance - just a weird looking old building.
No noticeable council signage - but drive down past the building and you will see it.
Great Things: *Plenty of shady spots and park benches. *Drink fountain directly opposite the park *Auto toilets w a timer *Walking access and stairways leading into and out of the park *Surrounded by CBD buildings so not a huge amount of noise. *Well maintained modern park and bins - preschoolers upwards (swings, slides and climbing frames) CCTV cameras surround the park
Not so great: *Evidence that it is an inner city park - graffiti on signage and I wouldn't recommend it in the evening. Parking is limited so best on a Sunday and you should have no issues. *A lot of construction at one end of the park (slowly disappearing green space 🙁) *No ample shade/Cover from the sun over 85% of the park. Lots of the concrete and slide surfaces WAY TO HOT in the summer to play. *A thoroughfare for students and residents living near by - so be vigilant. *Fantail menace - child got attacked a few times - took it right out of his mouth 😳
Otherwise a lovely oasis from the busyness...
Read moreSet in the well maintained beautiful Myers Park, this playground centrally located in Auckland's CBD is well designed and looks fairly new. It includes a good variety of play equipment including standard swings, a popular saucer swing and slides, and is great for all ages. There are lots of benches from where you can sit and watch the kids play, and there are also a water drinking fountain and toilets nearby. What's missing are shade sails to not only protect the kids but also to stop the metal surfaces of the play equipment from becoming too hot to handle and let...
Read moreThe concept was nice but its location in a hidden valley in the middle of town is its downfall. To combat its 'night visitors' the playground is utilitarian in style, steel with pops of color, yet still shows signs of vandalism. The flower sunshades have deteriorated, moss or mould growing on the frayed fabric. When we visited the playground, children were discouraged to use it due to the adults occupying areas to workout and sit under the swings staring at...
