My palette had the pleasure of savouring the magic of Malaysian cuisine at this humble yet wonderful restaurant, where the star of the show was unequivocally the Fried Noodles Char Kueh Teow.
The rich culinary heritage of Malaysia unraveled on my plate as I bit into the beautifully wok-fried flat rice noodles. Every mouthful was an explosion of flavor, brimming with the robust savoury, subtly sweet, and tantalizing spicy notes. The sheer delight of tasting the flat noodles, perfectly cooked with the ideal 'wok hei' or breath of the wok, was heightened by the thoughtful balance of spices that didn't overpower but rather enhanced the inherent flavour of the dish.
The Char Kueh Teow wasn't just about the noodles though. Generous portions of succulent prawns, tender slices of Chinese sausage, and plump cockles all came together to create a delightful texture that made each bite more memorable than the last. The subtle smokiness of the dish was perfectly offset by the crisp bean sprouts and the delicate, aromatic chives, adding an exciting dimension to the dish.
What I truly appreciated was the attention to detail - the omelette was perfectly scrambled and lent a unique creaminess that intertwined flawlessly with the spicy, savory, and subtly sweet elements. The garnish of fresh lime on the side was a masterstroke, its tanginess giving a refreshing lift to the overall experience.
The ambiance of the restaurant complements the food beautifully. A tasteful blend of traditional and contemporary decor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. And of course, the staff are friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about sharing their culinary heritage, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
It's rare to find a place that delivers such authenticity with a touch of elegance. The Fried Noodles Char Kueh Teow at this restaurant has truly been a revelatory experience - a testimony to the diversity, complexity, and deliciousness of Malaysian cuisine.
It's a dish and a restaurant I'd enthusiastically recommend to any food lover in...
Read moreWe have tried the food there and it was good. The service was not bad.
However, today we had the worst servive I had ever experienced and seen in Auckland.
To give us the seats, the service staff kicked the previous group out. Clearly, the service staff didn't inform the previous group politely to leave. We even apologized them as they were leaving to give us the seats.
While we were having dinners, we have seen the same service staff asked other customers who just finished the meals to leave but not in a polite way. It is ok to ask your customers in a friendly way to give seats to other customers but what I had seen is totally unbelievable. We left before the same person kicked us out.
At one point, my spouse was checking the menu on the wall, unknowing blocking the way. The service staff almost tapped on her shoulder and was showing disappointed facial expression.
I am a person who cares more about the food than the service. But this is totally unacceptable. I felt almost leaving the place since I had seen the first group being kicked out. After seeing other bad reviews about the service, I do not think the service staff was just having a bad day. The manager should train their staff properly.
I liked the food but i will not come back again. There are many Malaysian restaurants in Auckland with better food and friendly service. I know F&B industry is tough as a few of my friends work in F&B and as a food lover, I respect them. At the same time, the restaurant owner and service staff should value...

Reply to the owners comment: Do you have a template ready for customers who give you a low rating? Because i see you copy pasted the same comment for me and the next low rating as well. Also, do you always ask proof of dining at your restaurant?
I was in a group of 10 people yesterday night 20th July 2025. We called and confirmed if we can come before coming to the restaurant. We arrived at 9pm and you were irritated right from the beginning and kept saying why we came so late.
We ordered the food but you never confirmed how spicy we wanted the food but later told us off because we didnt tell you the spicyness while ordering.
The curry chicken was so thin and watery! I wonder you added hot water to the gravy to accommodate all our orders. I usually don’t complain about food but i was so disappointed that i didnt take photos. Now i think i should have taken the photos as proof for your comment!
The kitchen staff kept staring at us all the time which was really creepy.
The staff kept the door open again and again even when i kept closing it while trying to finish my food. Makes you wonder how badly the restaurant wanted to kick us out.
At exactly 10.03pm you came and said ‘restaurant is closed, i will start clearing now’ even when a couple of us were still eating food.
My free of cost advise- dont take customers if you can’t provide decent food...
