Great Taste at an Affordable Price
I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Malaysian restaurant that offers exceptional flavors at an affordable price. While the restaurant may lack in ambiance and friendly staff, the delicious food and generous portions make up for it.
We ordered three dishes: roti canai with beef rendang, mee goreng, and nasi goreng. Each dish exceeded our expectations and left us craving for more. The roti canai with beef rendang was a delightful combination of crispy yet fluffy bread served with tender and flavorful beef rendang. It was a match made in culinary heaven. The mee goreng, a stir-fried noodle dish, had a perfect balance of savory and slightly spicy flavors, leaving a lingering taste that satisfied our palates. The nasi goreng, a fried rice dish, was fragrant and packed with a harmonious blend of spices, accompanied by fresh ingredients.
Despite the shortcomings in ambiance and service, the reasonable prices of the dishes make this restaurant an excellent choice for budget-conscious food enthusiasts. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring we left the restaurant with satisfied appetites. The affordability of the meal further enhanced the overall dining experience, making it a standout among other establishments.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a Malaysian restaurant that offers delectable dishes at a great value, this place should be on your list. The flavorsome roti canai with beef rendang, flavorful mee goreng, and aromatic nasi goreng will leave you craving for more. Just bear in mind that the ambiance may be lacking, and the service may not be the friendliest. Nonetheless, for the exceptional taste and affordable prices, I would gladly give this restaurant a...
Read moreI've been coming to Uncleman K'rd for a couple of years now since the day they first opened. Majority of the dishes are good. However, they start to lack with how they operate and sell their takeaways.
The other day I ordered mee goreng, there was no chicken or even a single prawn. When I look at the price I bought for $14.50. I think to myself, ok Malaysian to another Malaysian "mesti dia lupa nak letak prawn atau ayam". It's ok, I let it go, it's a simple mistake.
Level 3 lockdown, instead of eating Fish and Chips for lunch. I should visit Uncle Man on K'rd. Come on, we should support other Malaysians during the pandemic right? I ordered my whole family, 6 dishes for a takeaway, costing around $94. I came in, takeaway already done, food is in 2 bags on the table ready to pick up.
When I get home, I ordered soto ayam. I opened my pack and was disappointed at how small the portion size is?!?!! The size of the nasi impit looks similar to the size of a 10 cent. Guess what? The price gone up a dollar to $15.50 for what it looks like to be a kids size meal. Plus there is no chicken. You guys should just change the name to "Soto Takder Ayam". My advice to the owners, instead of opening other branches around Auckland. Try to focus on customers food, and their takeaways service.
I recommend to any Malaysians out there to stay away from this restaurant. Not worth the value. There are plenty of Malaysian restaurants out there you can try. My recommendations would be Mamak in Takapuna, Sri Pinang on K'rd, Santhiya Restaurant on Dominion Rd, or even Pappa Rich restaurants. Their portion size fills you up, worth your money, plus its halal.
I will add some photos to show to the customers what I got when I...
Read moreThere is a saying "Once bitten, twice shy". But I went to Uncle Man's Twice, hoping the food is better. But sadly not.
1st Visit Taste wise - Food (Chicken Rice- the Rice is not flavourful, Chicken is grilled and coated with dark soy sauce, not too bad) Drink - Teh Halia it's Teh Tarik with added Ginger (NZD80cents additional) Piping hot, with faint hints of ginger and very diluted taste of tea, tad bit stingy on the milk too, cup size is big. Iced Lemon Tea - Obviously home made, and sadly home made as is it just tea colored water with hints of lemon, with slices of it. Come on!!! Better to serve canned Iced Lemon Tea and it is cheaper than your home made Iced Lemon Tea. Rip off!
Portions wise, looking at the Roti Canai with Chicken Curry, the curry chicken is measly as well as the curry. Have a bowl twice the size and more curry and chicken chunks would be great.
2nd Visit Taste wise - Food (Wat Tan Hor - not too bad but too much raw greens) Portion is small for the price, flat noodles are not grab sized (usually hawkers measure their portions by grabbing the bunch of noodles) or maybe the person has Trump sized hands. Drink - Teh Halia again. Tasted bland. Very diluted. Not creamy at all. Bundaberg Ginger Beer has more ginger than this, and cost half the price of this. Maybe if you tried a smaller cup size with the same portions you make the current drink, it would taste better.
Seriously. Buck up. So much for Warisan aka Heritage. Had a satisfying meal over at another Malaysian Restaurant. Portion wise for their Chicken Curry and Wat Tan Hor, 2 person portion and they had the Teh right! Creamy and full of flavour. Not kurang manis, kurang teh. And 20 cents cheaper aka Kurang 20...
