Yard Bar & Eatery — Restaurant in Waitematā

Came to this place after finding a deal which gave us 50% off food. When we arrived there was a very loud drilling sound comming from above the resturant.

Although we were the only ones in the resturant on a friday evening, it still took about 20 min before the waiter actually came to take our drink/starter orders. The menu must have been recently changed as what we had seen online was not the same as in store.

We recieved our drinks and the coke for the rum and coke was flat, they happily switched and when returning the waiter stated he thought it looked a bit flat... the cosmo was initially very strong, but about 2 min later the waiter brought over extra cranberry juice without being requested which saved it.

We were not impressed with the waiters knowledge of the food, he even pulled out his phone and googled an ingredient we had questions about.

For starters we had the prawns and pork belly, both were great, these starters saved the resturant from a 1 star.

For mains we ordered the steak medium rare, and the beef burger. By this point in time the resturant was filling up, still only 1 wait staff, and when our medium rare steak arrived medium well, and our burger dry and tastless, it took a good 20 min to wave the waiter down, (even a glass full of ice he broke covered the floor for a good 15 minutes). And he immediately brought over the bill. We complained about the steak, and we just got told he would take it off the bill. No offer to replace, no asking if we wanted desert or more drinks...

Would not recomend anyone go here for a half price meal, let alone...

Staff fantastic. We went to Spark arena for brilliant concert.. So this place.was busy..When our meal arrived the steak was cold unfortunately. Homemade chips were not nice as the were not brown, they were so under cooked and swimming in this cold watery jus on bottom of plate..Please put in separate little dish/ jug. Bearnaise sauce one of the best I've had ever . So yummy. Except shame bearnaise sauce it was served in tacky plastic take out little container. For $35 meal would be classier in china dish. Salad could of been nice if there was not to much dressing, plus you could tell its been sitting in its dressing for ages as all wilted ..The staff are awesome and very professional .. Cheese platter 10 out of 10..Must of been a off...

The staff were very rude, I had ordered no drinks and went up to order my first one and they told me they couldn't give me any more. I tried to explain that I hadn't even ordered any yet and was told that they didn't have to serve me if they didn't want to. I had had no drinks prior to going here either. Was trying to catch up with some family and all my family were served drinks but I was refused for no reason. Definitely won't be coming back here if that's how they profile customers. Also the food my family ordered took an extremely long time to arrive even though it wasn't busy at all. Drinks are also expensive, even...
