Zest Cafe — Restaurant in Waitematā

Visited this cafe with my son while waiting for our lunch order from another restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. Food Quality:

Ordered banana pound cake which was severely burnt and inedible Hot chocolate and salmon quiche for my son were acceptable Latte was actually quite good

Service: The service was the main issue. Staff seemed unfriendly and unwelcoming toward us. When our order arrived, it was simply placed in front of us without any acknowledgment or pleasantries. I noticed a stark contrast in how they treated what appeared to be regular customers nearby - they were greeted warmly and received much more attentive service. Overall: While the coffee was decent, the burnt food and particularly the unfriendly, dismissive service made this a poor experience. For a local cafe, I expected much better hospitality. I whole heartedly agree with the latest reviewer, Elisangela. Kelly, the new owner is making Zest Café better every day! She has the personality that makes all the difference in hospitality.. fun, friendly and so welcoming. No wonder she has so many regulars, who she greets by name, with a smile. Then there's the delicious food! Everything I have tried here has been made with fresh quality ingredients. I enjoyed every bite of the vege frittata, packed full of vegetables, the salmon filo, and the tuna melt is a cut above your average cabinet sandwich. Yum! Love this...

It was drizzling slightly as I happened to take shelter under the roof of this little cafe. The aroma of the food was too much of a temptation to resist. So I bought this breakfast set from them and am quite dazzled by the freshness of the food!! Some might compare this to a Subway footlong but let me tell you, this tasty treat is far fresher than Subway's.
