Love this place, not only tasty food but such a relaxing environment, great for catching up with that one friend you haven't seen in 5 years (or a tinder date) and are afraid of running out of things to talk about as there is alot of interesting decor and murals to fill in that empty void. Staff are great in my experience they checked in every now and then to see how it was but not so much that you've taken half a bite not even chewed the morsel yet as I have experienced in other places. have not had a problem since I first went this year (I have been a handful of times now) always get water very patient with my indecisive tendencies when it comes to ordering. Great selection, who can be mad at having waffles at 3pm? Friendly for our veggie friends too. Would love to go back again sometime in the near future! Would recommend one of the iced chocolates as they are super tasty. Only thing I can complain about is trying to waddle back down Cuba street with an overfull belly because I couldn't say no to an extra...

Fidel’s was a spectacular find when we last visited Wellington a year or two ago. Having been up early and walked a few kms, I would not be persuaded to accept any other breakfast option. Fidel’s or die. It wasn’t super busy and we were able to get a nice table inside. It took a while to place our order, but that’s ok. But then it took forever to even get the coffees. I’m not sure if we were forgotten or invisible or offensive. When the coffee did come it was good. Sadly I was a bit disappointed in the breakfast. I’d gone for the eggs benny with bacon and a side of mushrooms. It was just a bit underwhelming, like an English national football team. The mushrooms were tasteless, no seasoning, and bizarrely quite watery. The Favourite Husband was too starved to comment much on his as he was chowing down. I think I deciphered the word “average” through a spray of toast crumbs. There’s so many enticing looking cafes to choose from in this cool little city, I feel like next time this lady will be persuaded to...

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience there this morning. We walked in, accidentally overlooked a sign at the beginning saying that there friendly stuff will be seating us and walked to one of there staff members to ask about a table. She rudely asked us if we can't read the sign. Honestly I was pretty shocked by the way I have been talked to (what she said and her tone!). I than pointed out that the sign says friendly staff and that I feel the way I have been talked to wasn't friendly at all. She said it's a busy time and kept being rude. I understand that hospitality can be very busy (I worked in hospitality myself) but that is not an excuse for this level of rudeness. My partner said a simple apology would have been nice, she responded that she is sorry that we think she has been rude (that's not an apology!) We left as it was a horrible vibe and I did not wanted to leave my money there. Turned out she was the manager (or day manager?) Anyway the food might be nice but I am shocked about...

Was here for CubaDupa a very busy weekend in the City. Our group visited The famous Fidels a couple of times over the weekend. Both times were a wonderful experience. Your staff were very welcoming & onto it , it was busy & pumping & we were made to feel welcomed, no Hassel to find our group a comfortable spot. The service was relaxed & efficient & proffecitional. Not a long wait either considering how busy ot was. My vegetarian Eggs Benny was stunning , Crispy potato hash & perfectly Poached eggs 👌 Coffee smooth & punchy & made to perfection . Well done Team 👏 Such a special iconic old school cafe that hasn't lost it touch of majic. I highly recommend Nga mihi nui 🌸Chere Bailey

So happy we stumbled across this place as the food was amazing. We ordered the eggs Benny with bacon and it did not disappoint. The flavours they used made it taste so good, it was different, but definitely the best we have ever had before. Not only that, the workers were really lovely and thank you so much to the kind gentlemen’s (I believe one was the owner) who moved their car so we could park outside the restaurant! They made the experience stress free as we were originally gonna do take-away. We are very thankful we got to receive the full experience dining in. Thank you so much for ending our last day in NZ with a great Brekky and a smile :)
