Didn't stay, but here's the low down: the talk of reasonable prices isn't true. Just stopped by there, looked at the menu and was shocked at the prices. Yes, prices are higher now, thanks to inflation, but for a place like this to have prices that would make me just walk away, that takes skill.

Nothing on the skara (BBQ) menu was under 200 denari, except the kebapi, which were 20 a piece. I didn't mind the atmosphere, as I like dumpy places, but to pay fancy Skopje prices when you're getting the atmosphere of Demir Hisar is something else.

Unless they just handed me a "tourist" menu, I'd say avoid it. The grav was 220. 220! You can get the same beans in the center of Ohrid for 130 (or 90 in Stara Charshija).

I was pretty disappointed, as I try to go to a local birtija (greasy spoon) when I'm out of Skopje, seeing that they don't often get a bunch of business, but...

Best traditional food you’ll try in Ohrid for a reasonable classic Macedonian prices (which is twice and thrice less than the restaurants by the lake).

If you care to get a delicious homemade food (the people in the kitchen are usually older women - traditional macedonian), I highly recommend it. Ate there 2-3 days in a row. Have some food there, grab an ice cream and walk by the lake. Heaven!

And HAVE the house wine. I must say, one of the best I ever tried.

There should be more than one waiter though (not easy to do it all alone), and the atmosphere can be better, but for kafana is more...

The restaurant turned out to be a bad choice. The "waiter" did not write down our order and it turned out that we did not receive some of the ordered dishes. The culinary level is also poor. The traditional meat dish "Celsko meso" turned out to be only diced pork meat in its own sauce (small portion) - the addition was bread (extra charge!). Goulash a bit better. Every other restaurant in Ohrid turned out to be better. Much better quality elsewhere for the same price. I advise against visiting this place - waste of time and money. Date of visit 07/28/2023...
