Orhidea House — Hotel in Municipality of Ohrid

Pros:||+Nice rooms||+Beautiful lake view||+Located in the canter of old city||||Cons:||-Below apartments on the ground flour is located bar with very loud music. On weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) they can have party till almost 3 am. On other days - starts at 10-11 pm till midnight. Sound is very loud and it's impossible to ignore it. Even if on the street near building is not such loudly in room it is||-some things in rooms are broken and owner is aware of it but not going to fix it. Example - we had a problem with door lock. It was case when we could not close our door. Owner looked at it and then just put some detergent on them. Next day we had the same situation.||-owner is not living in the same building. It is impossible to find someone to help in case of any problems. hey give you a mobile number where you can call. But it's very expensive to do without macedonian number. Owner offered us such card but it was the last day we stayed in a hotel||-socket was broken. When we switched on freezer something blinked and light dissipated on the whole floor. It was night and we hardly find someone who repaired it. Owner was aware of problem but haven't fixed it before we arrived. ||- doors to bathroom haven't closed. It was gap for about 20 cm between door and wall. It was very uncomfortable and embarrassing to live in double room and be not able to close doors to bathroom if you understand what I am talking about||- on shared kitchen was available only 1 (!) fork for whole floor. May be someone grabbed all forks to his room but I thing that in this case lady who cleaned kitchen every day should put more forks...||- despite whole room was clean and nice there was mold in the bottom of shower cabin||||Summary: because of sound at the night I can't recommend this apartment to anyone. It could be convenient only for people who like to hang out at the party...

Great location, and friendly owners with an old but nice apartment. We thought we found the best room in all Ohrid, until our 2nd night.||||We had a busy day and wanted to sleep. You have to know that the apartments are built above a very lively bar, and previous reviews we read had said that on the weekend it gets very noisy until 3am. That was OK for us as we booked fir M, T and W nights only. The owner of the apartments is of course the owner of the bar as well.||||10pm Tuesday night, the live band started. Dont get me wrong, they played quite well, but seriously, it was deafening in the room, the bass and the drums literally were shaking the wall fittings. And this continued until 1.30 in the morning. ||||The next day the daughter came to our apartment to, I think see if we had a problem(we saw another family staying there with young kids who were none too impressed about the preceeding night's noise) and we told her it was a bit too full on. She went on about how it was a fund raiser for a local young child who has to travel overseas for an operation, which is all well and good, but some pre warning would have been nice. I told her if we knew that we would have slept earlier in the afternoon and come down for the party. ||||This was the only blight on what was a wonderful time in Ohrid.||||Stay here if you love a party. Do not stay here if you want peace and quiet and/or you have a family. Believe me it would be easier sleeping inside a jumbo jet engine on take...

We had a good contact with the daugther of the owner and the owner received us great when we came. It was a small room but with a balcony with a fantastic view over the lake Ohrid. It would have been a perfect place if the disco Liquid shouldn't have been in the same building. |In the announcement of this hotel it was never mentioned and that's almost a crime especially when the owner of Orhidea also is partowner of this noisy Discot... |The problem is that the sound of the discotheque was terrible loud and it was impossible to stay sleep. The daughter offered us another room in the same building but unfortunately it didn't help.||If you like to party three days of a week then this is the perfect place, otherwise, look for...
