During our recent visit to Ohrid, we had the pleasure of dining at Antiko, and it was one of the best culinary experiences we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by its prime location and atmosphere. The ambiance at Antiko is both elegant and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for any occasion, whether it’s a romantic dinner or a gathering with friends and family. The décor effortlessly blends traditional and modern elements, creating a cozy yet sophisticated setting. The food at Antiko is exceptional. Each dish is a masterpiece, showcasing the finest ingredients and culinary expertise. We were particularly impressed by the variety and quality of the menu, which caters to a wide range of tastes and preferences. The flavors were rich and authentic, and every bite was a delight. Pork in plum sauce was spectacular and is my personal favorite. What truly sets Antiko apart is the premium service. The staff is incredibly attentive and professional, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was flawless. Their knowledge of the menu and wine pairings was impressive, and their warm hospitality made us feel like valued guests. In summary, Antiko is a gem in Ohrid that offers a perfect blend of great food, beautiful location, enchanting atmosphere, and top-notch service. It is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable dining experience. We can’t wait to return for more of what Antiko...
Read morePeople say never go in a restaurant when no one else is there. Especially on a Usually busy Friday night. Unfortunately, we didn’t take this advice.
First of all the wine was watered. We have been in Macedonia long enough to know what Alexandria wine tastes like (lovely!), but this was just like drinking juice. It was obvious that it was watered by the fact we could hear the tap.
For starter we had a cold pepper dish (was nice, can’t really go wrong) and a pastry full of ham and cheese. The outside was warm, inside was cold, classic sign of a microwave.
For main, we got the stuffed pork with mushroom and cheese. It was raw. The mushrooms were cold and the cheese was just slabbed on the top, again, microwaved.
We complained about this, said we weren’t happy paying for anything. The waitress just shrugged her shoulders, said okay and off we went.
Unfortunately we had left a shirt so had to return. They wouldn’t give the shirt back unless we paid for some of the meal. After giving the reasons listed above why we weren’t happy to pay, they pretty much formed a circle around me, asking for money in return for my shirt.
It’s a shame: the room was lovely, we heard good reviews but I strongly, strongly recommend...
Read moreAntico was the first restaurant I visited for dinner on my first visit to Ohrid. It is less than 20 metres from the front door of the apartment building where I was staying. The interior of the building is fabulous, the upstairs dining area especially so. On this visit, I had Beef Stroganoff and opted for plain boiled rice, with a Shopsko salad. I really enjoyed this meal and, contrary to another review I have seen, the portion size was very generous, too much so for a small man like me.
Two nights later I went back, this time with three Montenegrin friends and this time dined on one of the few tables outside. Two of my friends are smokers and (happily for me at least), smoking is not allowed inside. We all had different dishes, I took a fillet steak which was excellent, my friends were also very happy with their choices.
On both visits I was more than happy with the service and the prices are very reasonable. I preferred the dining experience inside and I will choose this space next time. This will be soon as I was so impressed by Ohrid Old Town, I am returning in a...
