We visited Matcha Cafe Gohan and ordered a hot matcha tea and an iced matcha. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. The staff spoke very little English, which made communication difficult. When our order arrived, it was not what we asked for: I received a matcha latte made with regular milk, even though I specifically asked for plain matcha tea — I have a lactose intolerance. The iced matcha was also extremely sweet, which I didn’t expect or request.
I tried to explain the issue, but the staff member responded quite rudely and insisted the order was correct. She was visibly nervous and refused to remake the drinks. Considering the high prices, we essentially paid for drinks we couldn’t consume — a complete waste of money.
Sadly, this experience left us with a very negative impression. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you want a pleasant experience or if you have specific dietary needs. Better to avoid it and go somewhere more...
Read moreWaited for almost 45 mins for some miso ramen, they had vegan / vegetarian on the menu and I ordered speicifying I would like it vegan. 45 minutes later it arrived with an egg, I pointed this out and was told some phrases about how they couldn't ask everyone what they wanted in it, and that it would be simple for me to take the egg out. Yes taking the egg out is simple, but it is not vegan, as it is about the ethics of not paying for the exploitation of animals, I tried to tell her that then they should not have vegan on their menu. Anyways they were not sorry about the mix up at all, and mostly laid the blame on customers being unclear in the past about vegan vs vegetarian. Also the price for the vegan which is the vegetarian without the egg is quite high for what you get. Next time I want some vegan ramen I'll go somewhere else cause I can't even...

The new traditional tables and seats are very cool!
Ordered a katsu sando which I was dissapointed by. Previously when I’ve ordered it the bread was nice and fluffy and easy to eat since it was wrapped. This time the bread was toasted and hard. More akin to regular white bread from the store. The utensils I got wasn’t able to cut it to make it easier to eat, since it was a wooden knife. I really miss a proper katsu sando that doesnt fall apart when you try to eat it. :(
On the positive side, the rest of my family enjoyed their food! This place’s chicken dishes are good, and they do japanese and korean chicken justice. Very flavourful!
On another note, I also miss the donburi that includes fluffy egg on top! Those were really good to eat for lunch, but alas it is no longer...
