This is my go-to noodle bar. I've dined many times and they have never let me down. The ramen is authentic and very high quality. It's very noticeable that they spent a lot of time preparing the broth and the meat. Their kimchi and karage (fried chicken) are my preferred sides. The meat is jucy and the kimchi is both well fermented and fresh. They also have a lot of drinks to choose from and the staff is good at recommending drinks accordingly to the food.
I have dined here many time and the staff has never let me down either. Being polite, helpful and friendly with their guests. They were so helpful and welcoming that I felt like I could always ask for anything without feeling like I'm bothering. The staff is well trained without a doubt.
The atmosphere is a bit of a let down tho. The tables here aren't very comfortable if u sit for a little too long. The restaurant isn't that big and it feels like all the guests have to be cramped up together in there. All in all. Not very spacious and the barstools u sit on are tall and not too comfy. The interior is plane and modern Japanese styled. There are always many people witch is not a shock due to their delicious food. But it get quite a bit noicy.
I really wish they had better menu options for those of us who don't eat pork or vegetarian. On the menu, there's no vegie or no pork options but they always fix something up once I ask so they're capeble of making it but they don't have that as options in the menu. This is the only reason to why I'm giving 4 stars and not 5.
I recommend this place and will most definitely be back here to have dinner...
Read moreEver wondered why this branch has a slightly lower rating than the one on Torggata? 🤔
I embarked on a ramen escapade at Koie in Munch with my son who had a ramen craving that could rival the world's hungriest! It was a calm early afternoon on a weekday, making finding a seat as easy as spotting your favorite dessert on a menu. They seated us at a cool bar table by the window – slurping time!
Guess what? We both went for the classic tonkatsu ramen 🍜 – because why mess with perfection, right? The Ramen Express arrived at our table in just about 10 minutes! But hey, something was different this time. The char-siu weren't doing their usual sizzle dance, maybe their blow torch was broken that day? The sweet corn didn't have its sweet glistening glaze either 🥺
So, I took the plunge and had a sip of the soup – verdict? It was good, but i I was missing that steamy, spa-like quality that I've come to expect from ramen. And let's talk about the meat, shall we? It had a smidge too much porkiness to it. The other ramen companions held their ground, making it a bowl worth twirling those chopsticks for! 🥢
And then it hit me – the lower rating mystery cracked wide open! I confess, I'm leaning more towards the Torggata branch. Why, you ask? Because there, you get the Tampopo vibes – consistent quality, sober service and not a single...
Read moreThis is the best ramen I have eaten so far. I had the vegetarian miso option which was so flavourful and fresh. The soy egg was a delicious addition, and the yolk was still runny/jammy. The noodles were al dente, meaning they didn't get soggy by the time you finished the bowl. I was really pleased to have the option to order a vegetarian dish over a vegan dish because of the small additions like the egg. To me, this can completely change a ramen dish.
I also tried the yuzu margarita slush. The chilli lime salted rim, made this zingy and paired beautifully with the drink. I would absolutely recommend trying with your meal. The edamame was a perfect starter/side dish. They were steam fresh and perfectly salted.
I'm not sure if you can book a table. We didn't but were seated right away at the bar area (there were 2 of us). It does get busy, but I wouldn't let this put you off. The service is very quick so you won't be waiting around once...
