An Exceptionally Executed Meal at Lutlaget, Oslo
Dining at Lutlaget was a masterclass in understated excellence. From the moment we were seated, the service struck a balance between professionalism and genuine warmth, setting the tone for a memorable evening.
Our meal began with a simple yet remarkable offering: freshly baked bread. The contrast between the delicately crisp crust and pillowy soft interior was textbook perfection. So much so, we found ourselves requesting more — a gesture our waiter graciously obliged, emblematic of the attentive and generous hospitality throughout the evening.
For our main course, we shared the Entrecôte, accompanied by French fries and a choice of sauce au poivre or café de Paris. Both sauces were exemplary, with the café de Paris in particular standing out — rich, aromatic, and laced with a subtle depth of flavour that elevated the dish to something truly memorable. The steak itself was cooked precisely medium rare, as ordered — seared with confidence, and rested to preserve its tenderness and full flavour.
At the recommendation of our waiter, we added the green salad — a thoughtful accompaniment, dressed in a house vinaigrette, generously adorned with Parmigiano-Reggiano and a striking layer of shaved beetroot. The acidity and texture played beautifully against the richness of the meat and sauce.
Service was nothing short of superb. Our waiter demonstrated a deep understanding of the menu, offering well-judged recommendations while remaining effortlessly attentive. His composure, timing, and precision would not be out of place in a Michelin-starred dining room. And we have a wealth of experience eating in these restaurants.
In sum, Lutlaget delivers a level of quality and care — both on the plate and in the dining experience — that signals something quietly special is happening here. We would return...
Read moreA really nice bakery with very bad service and we received extremely unprofessional behaviour from a Molly who insisted she was the manager, while behaving poorly.
The first time she ignored my order, not knowing it was on the menu while it was written in front of her, thankfully the baker came to prepare my sandwich after 10 min waiting time. The time before she had left my coffee order while more occupied with talking to others and spending time on her phone. But the worst experience came on the 31st of May when she denied selling me a bread and s sandwich I usually order. I was in a long queue waiting for all 6 orders ahead of me to be prepared, but when my turn came she said I had to wait 5 minutes with the preparation of my order until she was done with the rest of the queue. She then asked if I was in a hurry and I confirmed this so she said that it instead will take 10 minutes for me. I am sorry, but its a bit much.. I have talked to another employee there who came out to help us with the bread order after over hearing the situation, and apologized, we gave our number to talk to someone in cha ge but no one called me back to talk about this case and we haven't been to the bakery since.
Some time later I have found out that Lutlaget blocked me on instagram, which means someone has been trying to find out who I am. Creepy. It's good that you help people who struggle with mental health issues to get jobs, but it's important that the owners or HR know what is going on. Such behaviour is definitely unacceptable, no excuse for it. I have not attacked or behaved poorly against any employees and done nothing that warrants any of...
Read moreMy family and I came here to get a quick breakfast and I was very satisfied with everything! This place is both a bakery and a restaurant and we went to the bakery side of it.
We got the chocolate chip cookie, pain au chocolat, plain croissant, postassbolle, and the solskinnsbolle.
The chocolate chip cookie was delicious. It had crispy edges and had a chewy texture. The plain croissant was also very good as it had a flaky and light texture but other than that, there was nothing super special about it. However the pain au chocolat was DELICIOUS. The chocolate to croissant ratio was perfect and the chocolate wasn’t too sweet either.
The pistassbolle and solskinnsbolle was new for us and it was definitely on the non-sweeter side so if you like pastries that are not that sweet, i would recommend!
Overall, I would recommend this place! I was a little sad to see that they started bringing out more pastries as we were leaving since we got there as soon as they opened so make sure to get there...
