Hildr Gastro Bar — Restaurant in Tromsø

We were really looking forward to dining here. So much so that we booked a month in advance and ordered the six course tasting menu. When we arrived for our early seating there was only one other table ordering. We sat and we sat and we sat some more…..finally we were approached and were provided with our pre-ordered six course tasting menu and a drink list. More diners arrived for reservations and we waited and waited to order some water and wine. When the white wine came it was placed sweating on the table. We eventually had to ask for an ice bucket to keep it cold. Our first course was brought to the table. It was delightful. Full of new tastes and amazing flavours. 30 minutes after this our second course arrived. A very long wait but again the flavours were amazing. After this course the wait between courses became longer and longer.We noticed that other tables were experiencing the same. 3 hours into our reservation and we finally received our fifth selection. During this time previous empty plates and tumblers just piled up on the side of our small table. The experience was such a disaster that we decided after 3 1/2 hours to just ask for the bill without even waiting for the dessert course. Absolutely shameful service that really took away from the taste experience of the creations coming from the kitchen. The sad thing is no one actually cared or seemed to be in charge of the restaurant. We don’t mind pulling out the credit card for a nice dining experience but this wasn’t it. $300 not well spent so consider...

I think I had too high expectations for Hildr. Ordered via a local food delivery app, the photo of the fried chicken burger looked very good.

Then came my first disappointment, they made and sent the wrong thing. Instead of a burger I received just fried chicken and salad. I couldn't help but feel that the chicken itself wasn't fried enough, rather white in colour as opposed to a more golden colour and crispy. Far from say KFC (they call it HFC - Hildr Fried Chicken). I was all for trying it and giving it a go but it also unfortunately lacked flavour too.

For an extra 62kr I ordered a side of fries, I know Norway is more expensive but even I find it hard to justify paying 62kr or close to 6€ for this size of a portion, that or the delivery driver ate half of them.

As soon as it was delivered, the local food delivery app kindly tried to contact the restaurant for me, around 30 minutes before closing but they failed to answer :-(

This is a review for the bar only (we did not have dinner in the restaurant). Experience was positive until the bar became busy due to an event. We were seated at the bar and had already purchased and drank 2 drinks each. Once a line formed at the bar, the existing customers already seated at the bar were completely forgotten about. We waited over 30 minutes for our order to be taken, and after waiting another 30 minutes for our drink, decided to leave. It then took another 15 minutes just to pay our bill for the previous drinks. The bartender made good drinks but had horrible time management skills and 1 bartender was absolutely not suitable for an event. The bar was running a drink special on 3 different drinks, so almost all orders were the same. However, the bartender was still taking individual orders and making drinks one by one. A good bar can handle a large crowd, and this one could not. Would not return as a result of...
