Solo female traveller review: I decided to book this restaurant for my first dinner in Tromsø. I was dining solo and the waiting staff were very attentive and professional. The vibes were lovely -- cozy and warm in front of the quay, the interiors were beautiful and comfortable. I ordered the main stars of the menu -- the smoked whale for starter, the reindeer steak as main, and cloudberries cheesecake for dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed them as they were all unique dishes which I've never tried in my lifetime! The reindeer meat had a strong "liver" taste (I don't usually like anything liver), but it was well complemented by all the other elements in the dish. I loved the reindeer sausage the most! The smoked whale was interesting, sweet and savory, and I liked it. I would've wanted to order the fish soup but whale was a rare item in the menu so I opted for that. The cloudberries cake was a big and nice portion for a dessert, the waitress warned me about it, but I still managed to clean the plate as it was lovely. Overall, I would recommend booking this place if you're dining solo. It is somehow posh and is in the more expensive side, but it...
Read moreHad dinner here on the 29th of February. Great food and staff. Our waiter had some difficulties with forgetting things but he managed to get everything done and helped us very good and was very polite.
I had the fish soup as starter and that one i enjoyed to the fullest! Even my girlfriend who doesn't really like fish tried it and liked it. For main we both had the reindeer steak and sausage. This dish we both enjoyed as well! The steak could use just a little more salt and pepper but that's everyone's own taste.
The deserts were ok but not that special and there were some that sold out what made the choice a bit less what we wanted but when it's busy you can't be lucky always.
The local beer was great again!
All in all a very good place to eat with great staff and good atmosphere.
Don't forget to have a look at their huge aquarium with decent...
Read moreWe went to Skirri today for some fish and chips. It had been recommended to us as one of the top places to eat. We were kindly shown to a table and our order taken. However, an hour later, my husband asked when our food was coming. The waitress had forgotten to order our food. We were then spoken to by a second waitress, Ingrid. What a delight she was! She had the difficult job to explain what had happened and that they had to re-order for us. Ingrid was polite, apologetic and incredibly kind. She took time to ensure we were happy with what was offered us and how we our order was being handled. We've put one star for the service of the first waitress, but would give a full 5 stars for Ingrid's service!! Ingrid was an absolute star. I hope she continues to do well in this job....
