Die Büste Amundsens steht direkt an der Stelle, wo er mit dem Wasserflugzeug zum letzten, tödlichen Unglücksflug aufbrach. Er wollte den italienischen Polarforscher Nobile retten. Amundsen stürzte ab – die wenigen Überreste, die man von seinem Flugzeug fand, sind nebenan im Polarmuseum zu sehen.
