Retro game themed burger bar sounded right up our street so we headed over for a try, we weren't disappointed!
Food: Food was great and didn't take look to come to us either. all the ingredients were fresh and tasted amazing! I went for the Mario burger which is the basic cheese burger but I added some pineapple to mine. OH went for the Bowser burger which had a bit of a kick to it. We shared a fries between us (and it was enough!) and I had a Strawberry Milkshake and he had a pint of local ale. The Milkshake is the real thick ice cream filled shakes with a rich strawberry flavour, it was amazing! I also tried a craft soda for my second drink while sat at the bar, it was apple and cherry, totally amazing too!
Food Note: Veggie options? All burgers can be subbed of meat patty's for alternatives so you can have any burger on the menu which I found quite good/flexible! The menu also states allergies which is always handy to know. (They also have GF bread options)
Service: Service was great, the bartender was really lovely and even give us some tips on catching the northern lights when we moved to sit at the bar after finishing food for 1 more drink and have a go on the games console at the end of the bar.
Atmosphere: The place was great and very well decorated for the theme, only down side was it's quite a small place, we travelled as a party of 10 but only 2 of us were out this night as the others were elsewhere. We would have been hard fetched to fit all 10 of us in (if there were other people there too) but on a plus side they do take away's so its not the end all if you are a large party! Seating:- Seating are all quite high stools as the tables are all the same height as the bar, I'm not very tall but didn't have a problem getting up on them (and I'm pregnant) but I thought it was worth noting in case others weren't so keen.

Read moreIf you are in Tromso looking for a local spot with fantastic food and a non-tourist feel, this is where you should go. If you are uptight, want to be catered to, are an entitled American; please do not pollute this local food joint. The place is small, 3x9m or so with a decor focused around classic console games It is also crowded, always. Tables are shared, you order at the bar and bus your own mess when finished eating. The conversation between patrons is a pleasant steady background buzz, the music eclectic and the atmosphere is relaxed. Everyone is friendly and service is excellent. The owner is the chef, and the barkeep somehow manages to keep up with demand. It is warm ( in the winter at any rate), close, crowded, buzzing with conversation, and perfect after being moued at in the city center for a week. At Burgr no one cares if you are a tourist, they only care about serving amazing food in an entirely chill setting. If you are not already headed here, then I will resort to pulling out the secret weapon; the food is good enough to make me regret that superlatives are so abused as to make 'amazing' or 'the best I've ever eaten' sound cliche, but it is the truth. Order the Doom burger, it is perfect, great roll, juicy burger, fresh vegetables, and a sauce the chef must have sold his soul to Emeril to develop. Get the onion rings. The chocolate milkshake is a frozen chocolate bar blended with just though milk to make it able to be sucked through a straw. Stop by and tell them the 'monk burger' guy referred you. For reference: 3 burgers, 2 fries, 2 shakes - around 600NOK and worth...
Read moreI was torn between a three or a four, here's why: very small inside and not much space but this adds to its charm but given it another half an hour we wouldn't have got a seat. Nicely decorated, the theme is computer games and burgers - what more do you want in life? They ran out of all the flavours for milkshakes - I would put milkshakes on a blackboard then so people can see what's available and what's not. Alas we were offered and accepted a Brown Cheese milkshake (taste like condensed milk / salted caramel) which wasn't on the menu. These were really good - nice and thick. We ordered two burgers and a portion of fries. The burgers came and were told he would bring fries out but the fries never appeared. Burgers were good - brioche bun and well assembled. Finished burgers and partner finished his drink and still no fries. Told the guy behind the bar to forget the fries now and he apologised and gave money back. I went to finish drink and next thing was fries were brought to our table, ironically over-cooked. Would go back anyway to see if it is better next time. Burgers and milkshakes are good! Sundays...
