As loyal patrons of Gokul Restaurant for over 8 years, it is with a heavy heart that I share my recent experience, which deviates from the exceptional service and consistency in food that we have come to expect from this establishment.
Today, on the 3rd of April 2024, my family and I decided to visit Gokul Restaurant for Iftaar, a tradition we have upheld for many years. My wife was particularly craving their delicious dosas, which have always been a highlight of our visits.
However, our experience took an unexpected turn when we requested drinking water for our table to break our fast. Despite explaining to the staff that we were fasting and intended to drink the water only after Adaan (the fast-breaking time), we were denied this basic request. The staff insisted that they could not serve water until Adaan, leaving us puzzled and disappointed.
Despite our repeated attempts to explain our situation, the staff remained adamant. It was only after Adaan had passed, approximately two minutes later, that we finally received the water we had requested.
Regrettably, there was no owner or manager available at the restaurant at the time to address our concerns.
As someone who has cherished many memorable moments at Gokul Restaurant over the years, this experience was deeply disappointing. The lack of understanding and empathy from the staff left a bitter taste in our mouths, overshadowing the otherwise enjoyable dining experience we have come to associate with Gokul.
In conclusion, while we have had countless positive experiences at Gokul Restaurant in the past, today's incident has left us reconsidering our future visits. We hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and implements measures to ensure that all customers are treated with the respect and consideration...
Read moreIf youâre a fan of South Indian vegetarian foodâor especially if youâre a Kannadiga missing the flavors of homeâNew Gokul Pure Veg in Al Khuwair should be high on your list of must-visit spots in Muscat.
This place is a hidden gem, especially for breakfast lovers. The variety of idlis, dosas, vadas, and other classic South Indian staples is genuinely impressive. The taste is delightfully close to what youâd find back in Karnataka, and if I had to guess, the restaurant seems to be run by folks from the Mangalorean communityâwhich might explain the authenticity and heart in every dish.
What stands out is how fresh and flavorful the breakfast items are. Whether it's a crisp masala dosa or a soft idli with piping hot sambar, the experience is comforting and familiar. It truly feels like a slice of home. The chat options are also worth a try if you're stopping by in the eveningâlight, tasty, and well-prepared.
While the North Indian dishes are available, they donât quite hit the same level of authenticity as the South Indian offerings. They're decent, but if you're specifically looking for North Indian flavors, Begumâs Restaurant (conveniently located just behind New Gokul) might be a better bet.
That said, for pure vegetarian South Indian cuisine, especially breakfast, New Gokul is easily one of the best options in Al Khuwair. The staff are courteous, service is quick, and the prices are reasonable. Youâll leave satisfied, and more than likely, planning your next visit.
Highly recommended for anyone craving that true South...
Read moreI will recommend Ghasitaram for South Indian food also they have the best cook at the moment. These Gokul have Very ugly service! First to take order they take 10 mints . Second they donât clean the table for long time when customer finished their meal , so other customers have to sit on same table with left over food and plate . Third they forget orders , today one guy was complaining he waiting from 30 mints . Two guys working there in morning time make very ugly face . Donât listen order properly showing to much bussy attitude, if you guys are to much bussy we need to shift on other restaurants. I am their customer from day one but never go again there , owner need to assign right number of people and with welcoming behaviour. Also make them wear uniform with name . These waiters are acting like county head . Teach them how waiters must behave . Space is less specially in weekend . Some time cleaning is the issue . They need to clean the table immediately once people leave table. Staff are not welcoming at all . Many time they donât answer call...
