We keep going back here because both the food and service are awesome! Touring here we wanted to try as many restaurants as possible but the food here is delicious and so well prepared we are afraid to be disappointed somewhere else. We have tried their filet mignon sandwich, Panama Red Pork Chop, Fish Tacos and the Boom Boom Shrimp and Filet Mignon platter. Everything except the lemon pie dessert was clearly homemade which made the pie the only thing not worth the money. But everything else was perfect. The filets were rare, tender and juicy every time, the pork chop was three inches thick, the fish was flaky and mild and even the sides were perfectly prepared. The onion rings were hand cut and hand battered and just like the boom boom shrimp the batter was so light and airy you could barely tell they were fried. The mixed vegetables were succulently el dente and there were more than a 1/2 dozen local vegetables in the mix. An added bonus is the delicious margaritas and sauces they make from the hand picked lime, lemon and orange trees growing right next to your table. The service was friendly efficient and bi-lingual. If you are visiting Boquete, this restaurant MUST be the first stop on your list for...

Walked in, Totally cold reception. It was as hokey as an old western movie where someone walks into a saloon and everybody stares at them. We walked in. Everybody at FOUR tables just stared. We sat down at a table. Waited 10 mins. NO EMPLOYEE ever even acknowledged that we were alive on the planet. We got up, walked out, all while being stared at AGAIN by the diners at the other tables. We won't be back. Yet one more reason I'm just not a fan of Boquete. Just an awful place to be.

EDIT: It was 9 months before I saw the response posted to this. I would pay good money to see whatever video they claim to have becs it definitely wasn't us. 1) We speak Spanish so it isn't necessary for the staff to speak English to us, and 2) NO EMPLOYEE ever spoke to us, which is the entire reason we left after 10 minutes. So, not sure who you were seeing on that video, but it definitely wasn't us. But I do wish all the best to that server. Nobody deserves to be treated that way. Too bad she wasn't available to help us. We would have loved to see a server. Any server. But we didn't. Ever. Which is...

The atmosphere here is great. The garden at the back is a great place to sit and relax. One thing that will help with that is a lovely cocktail. These did not disappoint and I can recommend the 'panita' which was a local version of a margarita. I'm not a fan of overly sweet food or drinks and I'm pleased to report that whilst this had a great mix of flavours, including citrus, nothing overpowered leading to a deliciously well balanced drink.

We'd heard that Big Daddy's was famous for their fish tacos. The menu reassuringly reminded me that these were their famous dish. I'm very disappointed to report that these were not worthy of their menu recognition. A small fillet of fish with a little bit of salad rolled up in a tortilla is hardly call for infamy. It had a very flat flavour with nothing of note. The small piece of fish was fresh but unseasoned and plain. I left regretting spending the money on such a forgettable dish.

The menu has many other options so I may give it another chance...

Big Daddy’s in Boquete Panama is more than a restaurant and has some of the best tasting food dishes and drinks in the area. We have eaten at Big Daddy’s several times and the food has always been unbelievable. Chef Chris Young continually creates an exciting menu to satisfy the tastes of everyone. He only uses the freshest meats, seafood, fruits and vegetables, sourced from local vendors, to bring out the amazing flavors of each dish. The bar creates delicious cocktails of all types including, the Chocolate Margarita, which is a must try for chocolate lovers. The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere and a great place to meet friends, have a great meal and occasionally listen to live music from local bands. Big Daddy’s will leave you with an experience you won’t soon forget!! Kim and Dave

Despite the lower score, I’d return! Big daddy’s offers a secret hideout around the back with a great atmosphere, fire pit and cool hangout for a group of friends. The panita (Panamanian margarita) was absolutely delicious and I’d return just for this drink! However the low review comes from the food, very average and quite bland. We had the nachos with beef which was a big portion and well loaded but very basic, we also ordered the “famous fish tacos” which were a HUGE disappointment! The presentation was very “throw on the plate”, the dish lacked any flavour, was a very small bit of fish and considering the hype, they were quite considerably below average. This spot is great for drinks and a cool vibe but the food is a definite miss!
