Enkai is by far the best restaurant in Casco Viejo. You can tell me that Jesus Christ is coming back to earth right in "fonda Lo que Hay" and I'll be drinking a pisco sour in Enkai with no hesitation and no regrets. This is serious guys, this is an scandal.
A casco viejo resident and food lover is telling you this. Don't miss it, go as many times as you can and let Mizaki (The chef) touch your soul from the sense of your mouth.
I went with 0 expectations to this humble place and I got blown away by the art put on each plate.
I spent 2 hours of shock feeling the food even with my face. The flavours that you can experience are just simply out of this world, I have no ways to explain how sublime my dinner in this place was.
I didn't understand what I was eating, i didn't have the time to process all the flavours, i didn't have enough time to thank to chef for opening my mind by showing me the hidden flavors of the universe.
Recommendations: Try the "Causa Roll", "the Acevichado Roll, the Daniel-San Nigiri and if this is not enough, let Leonel to be your guide in this experience.
Don't forget about your pisco sour.
This is my friends, a "must to go" in Casco Viejo.
Don't let anybody tell you something different, go an try it yourself.
Say thank you in this comment section later.
Special mention to "Leonel" (The waiter), he is the perfect guy for this restaurant, all the staff was born to be...
Read moreWhen it comes to Japanese-Peruvian fusion food there are fakers and then there are those that are very real. Not only is the chef authentic but he elevates the emerging cuisine category to a whole new level.
When we think about the category as a whole we must consider the relationship between Japan and Peru which is extensive in history. This chef understands that history and unites the flavor in each and every bite. The careful attention to detail and the care of the ingredients in each bite is phenomenal. His food is better than some of the Michelins I’ve been to in Lima.
The atmosphere is chill and inviting and the servers are well aware of everything that goes into each plate.
The chef is young, humble and extremely kind. I believe we will see him on an international stage one day.
Don’t think and a just go. As an American living in LATAM I can assure you that if you pass this by, you will only wonder what it could have been. It it would have far beyond any expectation you could have had, as it was for me.
As a frequent traveler and a person that passed through Panama often. These love my gentlemen and women will be seeing me every time I pass through.
Thank you to the Enkai crew that made my family’s dining experience so lovely. We truly appreciate your time, attention and grub. I can’t wait to see you again and one day the next step of this...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience. I called in advance to get specific details on Omakase. I had a 5 minute conversation with chef on exactly what to expect. I was told I would be charged 39 dollars. When I arrived I specifically told the waitress I was there for Omakase and never looked at the menu. I was brought one plate of sliced fish and 10 pieces of Nigiri.... which was clearly not what I was told on the phone. I sit there and wait for almost an hour waiting for the remaining food to come but then I am told everything was finished. At this point I am very confused and pissed off because I did not get the meal I was promised. I even showed the waitress where it says on the menu that Omakase included sashimi but he said Omakase was nigiri only. Then when the check comes the bill was over $65. The waiter tells me the sliced fish was not included and tried to charge me $15 for something I never asked for. Not only did these people try to steal from me, but the food was horrible. If you like wasting money this place is perfect for you. Otherwise if you have common sense, find somewhere...
